TheScotsman
Weakest Edinburgh team in years. Clegg and Davey in the 1-5. Pickering could turn out to be another Etheridge. How knowledgeable you are. Mark Riss is at reserve until his average gets too high. Then Cleggy or Pickering.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Can someone correct me please? 1. Sam Masters 8.97 2. Max Clegg 4.34 3. Erik Riss 6.85 4. Josh Pickering 5.00 5. Ricky Wells 7.92 6. Mark Riss 4.00 7. Mitchell Davey 3.00 Total: 40.08??? Does Clegg get a reduction? Do Aussies come in on a different average now? 1)Yes Clegg gets a reduction. 2) Only the odd 1 in certain circumstances (see no7) 😜

Paddy The Rebel
That has got to be one of the worst Edinburgh teams built that team will lose at home a fair few times plus all there away matches. Waaaaggggggggging tail...
TheScotsman
Well both Riss boys plus Cleggy have got a fair bit of improvement in them. And I would expect Smiler and Alfie's namesake Ricky to both add a bit to their averages. So then it's down to whether our other Aussie and ex-Aussie can keep to their averages. So not the strongest team we've ever had at the start of the season but should be flying high come the second half.

Pogo1
Good luck to the lad, apparently Jye Etheridge has told Josh that Edinburgh is a great club to sign for, he will be given plenty of time to develop, he won't be put under any pressure to score points, in Sam Masters a great captain and fellow country man who will be behind him 100% . Lol

Lol Yep all spot on!! On the BSPA site all the teams are listed by the riders averages. Look at Edinburgh's line up. http://speedwaygb.co/championshipannouncements17 Interesting. So Mark and Josh have come in as 3's or even lower? Bonzer!!
Bagpuss
Looks like a solid, workmanlike line up which as usual will win the vast majority of home matches, but may find life tough away from home. Will be in the higher reaches of the table but don't see them challenging for honours unless Clegg or greater Riss have break through seasons. Mr Blobby
im quite happy for people to underestimate us. Happened in 2014 and we won the lot.
geoff 100
i cant see anywhere what av he is coming in on,do all new aussies come in on 5 or 7 as they only have 4.92 to play with ??
TheScotsman
5.03 to play with. I believe new Aussies are now on 5.0. But of course since it's us he might come in on a 3.0!!

Probably still solid at home, especially once the new guys get used to the track. Much might depend on when and how much the potential and improvement kicks in as the season goes on, so in the latter stages of the season there's every chance the whole team could be going well - so a team that would be suited to the play-offs like Sheffield did last season. Hence much might depend on when the potential kicks in and will it be in time to get enough points to qualify for the play-offs, but that being the case I can see this team going far. Sings4Speedway
Im not that keen on Davey being classed as one of the Brits but think its a team based upon a lot of IF's. I can see Ronnie Pickering & Clegg doing well plus the heatleaders but i have my doubts if there is much improvement in the Riss's/Risseses/Rissi....... spin king junior
Think a lot rides on how well Pickering does for whether Edinburgh will be successful this season. Looks a solid side to me though, good heatleaders, the best number 7 in the league and should always have a good number 6 too in either Clegg,Riss or Pickering. Should be a play off contender at least I'd say.

Very much a team like Berwick IF IF IF IF, might turn out OK might not. When they changed the rules, should have been made clear a UK rider was someone born in UK and resided in the UK 90% of his life. By not doing so allowed someone to manipulate the rule, someone forgot to cross the'T's' and dot the'I's' Edited December 29, 2016 by balderdash&piffle

balderdash&piffle
Mark Loram was born in Malta. I won't go even down the Tai Woffenden route!! Surely the intention was to assist young British riders to get a leg up in their own country, sadly they cocked it up by allowing manipulation
TheScotsman
But if you go down the "young" route you rule out the late starters. It's not manipulation. There were rules which are apparently being followed. And Mitch is only 26. Danny Ayres was 29 when he got the job last year and as for Tiger Louis!!! I have no doubt the rules are being followed, just not in the way they were intended. I dont blame Edinurgh fo manipulating a loophole, I do blame the BSPA for not getting it right, then allowing it.
