Halifaxtiger
You're going to have to do better than this, HT... 1. Of course she would want to go back if Newcastle had won, because the pernicious effect of the rule book would not have prevailed: these issues are only in focus due to the result. 2. I no more thought that this would be a stroll in the park than (I dare say) you may go along to the PLRC thinking that a Sheffield rider is likely to win, thanks to home advantage and track preparation; however, as I have said, this has nothing to do with Sheffield in particular (including who is and who might or might not be on the injured list). 3. I'm not going to personalise this - if you want to think that I'm a bad loser and the rules of the sport will create a golden future, that's fine by me - but forgive me if I don't tell my girl that this was just a normal match and result and that trying to qualify for the playoffs may be pointless because once you have an all star team of track specialists will turn up and knock you out. For what I think, read Tsunami and Montie's excellent posts above. Bluntly, I think you are trying to blame the rules of the sport for the fact that Newcastle lost - rules that, as I have said, have been in existence for half a century - while completely ignoring the performances of all the riders (not just the guests) on the night. Terrace Grumbler
HT, it's probably time to let this go, but with regard to 3, yes, I do think the rules are misplaced (and it surely doesn't matter how old they are!) but as I said in an earlier post, Sheffield took advantage of them as any team would. I tip my hat to Kyle Howarth who was excellent all night and gave an example in determination that others could perhaps take on board. If I can persuade herself to come along, I guess we'll see on Sunday if any lessons have been learned!
KEITH M
Bluntly, I think you are trying to blame the rules of the sport for the fact that Newcastle lost Don't think that's the case.. How many posts have said "We lost to the better team?.. How many posts have said "Sheffield wanted it more?" How many posts have said "Sheffield won it because of the performance of YOUR rider Kyle Howarth?". And in my opinion I have to agree with all 3 of the above Edited October 3, 2016 by KEITH M
scoobydoo
We looked like a team who relies on an 18 year old to make us look good Hes a proper Marmite rider love him or loathe him hes a very talented rider for sure who can really hurt a team on track and but when he misses meetings he hurts the team he rides for just as much. 2ndbendbeerhut
So a team full of guests went and got a result away from home when needed.... Wonder if anyone from Peterborough have seen this?
spin king
interesting fact on did get an advantage from the Guest riders/Rider Replacement used at the meeting yesterday. Basing on each riders last performance Brough Park for Sheffield against the their replacementsit does come with some interesting figures, and some that does surprise me. Jason Garrity 12 points from 5 rides, replaced by Ricky Wells 10 points from 6 rides Simon Stead 6 points from 5 rides, replaced by Rider Replacement 4 rides 3 points Dimitiri Berge 5 rides 2 points, replaced by Lewis Kerr 5 rides 10 points. Josh Bates 6 rides 13 points, replaced by Rob Branford 5 rides 4 points. I make that; Tigers 21 rides 33 points Replacements 20 rides 27 points No advantage gain according to that.
scoobydoo
So a team full of guests went and got a result away from home when needed.... Wonder if anyone from Peterborough have seen this? Sheffield still lost the meeting Panthers needed to win . Kenneth Bjerre would of been replaced by a NL rider would Sheffield of won on aggregate with a NL guest inplace of any of there guests they used

ashtree123
Lambert missing meetings at the business time, proves costly for the Diamonds. Think Newcastle were most peoples favourites to win the play-offs. Well done Sheffield Select. Are you for real, do you think he done it on purpose. You win as a team you loose as a team it is a TEAM effort, putting the blame on 1 rider is a joke, I blame the bspa an the scb etc, It was a World Under 21 Championship meeting ran by the FIM who's meetings sadly takes precedence. but to be honest he put more effort into the Sheffield meeting than the rest of the team over the 2 meetings put together, and you cannot rely on an 18 year old to carry the team Well done Sheffield. As mentioned previously guests could decide the title. I had taken Newcastle to win but Lamberts absence tonight has possibly cost them play off semi place. If Glasgow keep their team injury free looks like their title. why blame Lamberts absence, blame the promoter for wanting to run the meeting when they new he would be missing, also with Sheffield also missing 2 riders for the same meeting Really did not see this result coming, Newcastle were finishing the season very strongly and I thought they would go deep into the playoffs. Lambert's absence costs them in the League Cup and now in the Playoffs as well. Never an ideal situation when guests influence the outcome of Playoffs, in a good or bad way, but that's what we have. Sadly you cannot blame young Lambert, I can honestly say that a couple of riders from Thursdays meeting didn't put in the scores they should of done, and to be honest watching the meeting Sunday night Newcastle didn't seen to want the win as much as what Sheffield did Could cost us in K.O.Cup aswell as he is due to miss the 1st leg of the semi final at Rye House next Saturday due to the ELRC Not his fault yet again, ELRC over rules any other meetings if speedway authorities get there act together, surly they can organise meetings throughout the season without any clashes, they all now the dates at the beginning of the season We looked like a team who relies on an 18 year old to make us look good so very true Hes a proper Marmite rider love him or loathe him hes a very talented rider for sure who can really hurt a team on track and but when he misses meetings he hurts the team he rides for just as much. misses meeting which are not his fault, why blame him
