Poole 2017

There's normally about a week between riding the required amount of matches and then attaining the new average.

Why?

If the average was attained on 19th July surely it is applicable from that date.

I know we're talking about speedway's governing bodies here so I'm not going to win this one.

Thanks anyway for the responses guys.

But the KOC cup matches were ridden at the start of April so KK's fourth home meeting was 19th July at which point his average became 5.5. Kennett signed after that date.

The new average is effective seven days after completing 4H and 4A.

to allow room for teams to manipulate the situation to suit them getting in a higher averaged rider than would otherwise be available.

As much as most Poole fans wanted rid of KK, if Matt was struggling to replace him with a 'top' rider on his 9.23 average - as he admitted he was -, then surely KK would have been worth sticking with for another week (2 more meetings before the cut-off) as a 2nd string on 5.51. If he still didn't perform then Eddie could still have come in before the cut-off as that 1-7 is below the 42 point limit. It only goes above 42 points when Brady returns from injury to replace Richie.

Anyway another loan fee to keep the cash flow going!!

I could be wrong but wouldn`t Kurtz`s average still be in the 1 to 7 for an injury replacement- Ie you couldn`t make other changes using Worrall`s average for the team total.

It has to be like this. Anything else would be insanity...Then again, it is speedway we're talking about.

If there wasn't a week's delay it wouldn't be possible to plan for imminent meetings - guests, programme printing etc. It does also allow planned team changes of course.

Some years ago there was that big row about I think it was Ipswich v Swindon- when Swindon turned up with a guest whose average had changed overnight and they " claimed" they didn`t know !!!!!

Thought it was just league matches as per the regulations?

He did with the KOC which they included this season.

16.2.1 ESTABLISHED MA’s are calculated, for a specified number of applicable Meetings, taking account of the number of heats and points (excluding Bonus Points) that a rider has scored. The applicable Meetings are:

SGB Premiership: League Meetings, excluding the Play-Offs

SGB Championship: League Meetings, excluding the Play-Offs

The problem was that they agreed not to issue any new 2017 averages until all the SGP teams had done the 4h and 4 a- however it was getting to halfway through the season and they needed to get them out so they decided that as all the teams took part in the KOC round 1 so they included them- Presumably as all the promoters agreed - the SCB wouldn`t object !!!( in fact they might have issued an amendment)
