Poole 2017

Interesting news I just found out.

Greg H had agreed to a deal as well. But wasn't happy to join until after Deadline!

Good thing to see GP riders still interesting in England. Just not right now!

Matt has been working hard!

Ofcourse he did.

I revert to what I originally said....no top rider wants to sign in the uk....all you deluded Poole fans thought otherwise & bleated on about a "superstar" "just wait for Friday" etc etc.

Comes to the crunch it doesn't matter who you are as uk speedway is doomed......oh by the way, we were told that Swindon picked up the dross as no one wanted to sign for us.....funny how things turn out.

Surely Richie Worrall is a better option than Edward Kennett?

Having slept on the EK replacing KK announcement.....

I still think EK is a poor signing for the (less than) mighty Pirates and they better hope KL don't get themselves sorted because they are there for the taking. Still a very strange move - and to think certain Poole fans laughed at the Swindon team at the start of the season - who have now beaten them twice at home. Karma is a b*gger.

Quite right what has Starkey done wrong, nothing.

All the unusual suspects coming on the thread to take the piss out of Poole signing Kennett. If he does as well as I expect at home it should be enough to clinch a play off spot, home wins will probably be enough unless the Holder thing at KL is sorted out.

Indeed you didn't say it but brum said you did so either accept it or be prepared for yet another thread to be dominated by brum spew.

Having looked through the last few pages of the thread I'd say you've got the Kennett signing spot on.

He was more than decent at home and at no.1 for Rye but he has been very poor away. Riding as a second string and at a track he seems to like a lot he should score at least as well as he did at Rye but as you said he has been poor away.

I think just by being a second string and riding in heat 8 or 14 will probably see his away average go up by a couple of points but if it doesn't then you sort of expected that anyway.

Eddie won't be a 2nd string he'll be 3rd heat leader whether Brady has returned or not!

So here is what I know from a sponsor of Poole!

Kildermand was the first choice and was close to signing and getting rid of one of his 3 leagues but the club said he can't.

There could be two more changes coming. Sundstrom and Scepaniak coming in.

Would Imagine Lahti and Starke! Now there is space!

No way will that work with averages as they are!! Can't see any more changes now, but I was wrong about Eddie so who knows?!:wink::shock:

Always like Eddie Kennett but obviously hoping for someone better, he will be an improvement on KK and i think we have a competive team now especially when Brady is back. Eddie is usually excellent at our track and hope he can improve away.

Hope he can improve away is something that has been said about Kennett for quite some time now. At his stage of his career if it hasn't happened by now it probably isn't going to happen any time soon.

That's a lie.

No way would Greg H do Britain. The only reason Greg done Britain last time was because of the problems at Bydgoszcz.

You must live a pretty sad life if that's all you can think about.

Agree.

Steve Shovlar, on 21 Jul 2017 - 6:41 PM, said:

Whilst Eddie Kennett has always worn the pirates colours with pride, it shows how hard it has been when the top British club can't get a top liner to ride over here.

Matt Ford had been talking to quite a few riders but all of them said no when it came to signing on the dotted line. I believe he had been waiting for one particular rider who would have been a very good replacement for KK. Waiting so much as to include KK in the Monday meeting at Wolves and the Wednesday side against Swindon, only to be let down at the eleventh hour.

KK was clearly going through the motions since his return and could have been drummed out a couple of weeks ago and Kennett brought in. Pretty sure Matt has fallen back on Eddie as the deal with the other rider fell through. Just shows how difficult it is nowdays to get a top rider into the UK for a club.

Welcome Eddie. I am sure you will give it 100% and after the "efforts" of KK the fans will accept that they just want to see a rider giving his all than one not even going through the motions.

However, I have to be real and say here ends any chance of the title in 2017. We will make top four but not go any further. We just don't have a big hitter to combat the Doyles or Lindgrens and it would need a monumental effort to make the final this season.

I agree with you Steve , Eddie will do a sound job I reckon . I had to smile thought , remember all the sh*t you & your fellow Pirates fans gave them Bees supporters when he was done for a slight indiscretion !!! .. Only in our sport eh .....

Have to agree that Kennett will be an improvement on the disgraceful KK but he's not exactly going to transform Poole from a 4th/5th placed club to a Champuionship winning one.

First season in many that I can remember, that Poole are basically just "also rans" when it comes to actually winning the league/play offs.

Anyone can win the play-offs. Anything can happen. Key riders could get injured or they could hit a bad run of form. If you are in the play-offs then you will always have a chance. For example.

BV vs. Swindon

Cook could get injured and then BV are up against it.

Wilson-Dean might have to withdraw from the meeting and then Swindon are up against it.

You don't know what is going to happen. It doesn't all come down to who has the best 1-7 on paper. Wolves would have beaten us easily but Howarth got injured and then Wolves struggled after that which resulted in us getting the win.

Consistently scoring badly... I didn't want him to go, but it's not like he was one of Matt's random victims.

Scored badly after his injury, clearly you forgot about that..
