Steve Shovlar
Putting a roller on a saturated track surely isn't wise? It would just bring the water to the surface.
mdmc82
Join me on periscope for the racing. Or not. Track waterlogged. Off.Love how you dress it up. Track has been deemed as unsafe  @poolespeedway Riders have assembled on the in-field .... and sadly the news is that the track conditions are deemed not safe and meeting abandoned! Steve0
Go back one year to the NSS and this sounds the same disaster - and we all know the grief that the promotion got for that! Â That's the problem with the season starting in March - we've had a lot of rain but surely a decent track man should see that the track isn't right and get it called off?
Trees
Couldn't Poole with their solid track base just blade all the shale off then relay it today?

Steve Shovlar
Track looked absolutely fine when I arrived at 6.30. But the damage had clearly already been done earlier this week with the heavy rain. Â No way would anyone have wanted to call off this meeting with riders travelling from all over europe and obviously the hope was that the water table was low enough for the water to have drained away. Unfortunately it hadn't. On Wednesday after noon the teack was a quagmire and for the first time in years P&P couldn't go ahead. 48 hours later the track just wasn't ready. Â The racing we did see was pretty good. First bend was the main issue which got worse as the meeting went on. Water rose to the surface and riders struggled to turn there. All disappointing but the right call. Not sure if using a tyre packer on a wet track is sensible though. Surely that would bring water to the surface. Â A huge crowd so the main objective was done. Raising a lot of money for Darcy and in that respect a big success. Â Hopefully the rain will now stay away and the track will now have a proper chance to dry out before the visit of Wolves next Wednesday. Track looked absolutely fine when I arrived at 6.30. mdmc82
Sounds like you are either delusional Steve or were at a different meeting to everybody else 🙄 Â Belle Vue and Peterborough have had rain all week but still managed to get their tracks sorted. Â No excuse although as Darcy Ward said, it's typical Poole standard. Edited March 24, 2017 by mdmc82
Aces51
At least Belle Vue had the excuse of not knowing about the problems with the track base. Â I understand that Chapman was in the process of drafting a press release condemning the promotion for this disaster, explaining that it was entirely their fault, nothing at all to do with the BSPA and that he is launching an immediate investigation. That was untill he realised he had misheard, he thought someone said it was a meeting at Belle Vue. 😂 Â Silence will speak volumes. stevebrum
What is it with British clubs unable to adapt to track conditions when we have top class riders here. Belle Vue at least had an excuse because it should have never gone ahead but a club as big as Poole should be able to adapt. Clearly the issues of iffy tracks at Poole are not a thing of the past.

dj350z
They have had trouble with that first bend for years, why hasn't Matt sorted it? Is this the infamous 'hole in first bend'? poole keith
fully support the riders in their decision not to race was undoubtedly the right call, most of them were just freewheeling round the bends,as holder said it was impossible to slide, riders strung out over 50yds.not a good advert for any newcomers

hyderd
No excuse Mr Ford, no excuse.Fans from all over the country have been saying for years how crap the Poole track is, yet some blue eyed fans (they know who they are) have refuted this. Now will they listen. Rip it up and relay it properly, Speedway in this country is quickly running out of time.
hyabb17
Yet again the "flagship club" of British speedway makes a joke of itself. The riders said on Wednesday they couldn't take to the track as it was bad. Two days later with riders from across the globe it's the same. And people wonder why British speedway isn't taken seriously. Absolute shambles! Wow! Poole has always been a bad track. When your riders state this you need to listen. Isn't the first time & wont be the last. Take those blue tinted glasses off for a moment. Â Track looked absolutely fine when I arrived at 6.30.
