Grachan
You actually don't even need 42 to win a meeting. You can do it with 40.8. The two riders going into heat 15 will go in with high average as they're the better riders, one of them at least is likely to see his average drop. If you assume they both have 3333 going into heat 15 and get 5-1d both of their averages drop and you may have still scored 46 I'll take your 40.8 and lower it to 40.6. If you go into heat 15 with 43 points, you need a 3-3 to get 46 - the winning score. If both riders are of 3,3,3,3 and get a 3-3 then one averages 12.00 and the other 9.60. The 43 average drops by 2.40. So 40.60. It's very common to see people thinking the points limit should be 46 because that is the winning score - but that doesn't take the extra race into account.

bigcatdiary
THAT isn't strictly true. I know of one adjudicator who makes assessments at the request of the BSPA but isn't told who the track requiring the information is. And how many tracks would be asking for an assessment on a rider after the cut off date for transfer, let's be fair with full knowledge of who had just got hurt it wouldn't take a detective to work it out. What we do need is absolute transparency for every such decision. How it was arrived at and who sanctioned their findings. And that statement Philip sums up the main complaint I have with the BSPA office and MC. If it's fair, honest and can be properly explained it would end most of the complaints on here before they were started. I am assured it's been suggested at BSPA meetings in the past. SteveLyric2
But it has been explained in the Speedway Star!! Whether people agree with the explanation is entirely a different argument (as PR stated before it was made public)!

The Cheese
I'm sure Poole will be interested in signing Lindback again next year. In the interests of fairness, and given that he didn't quite do enough meetings to attain a true average this season, it should be allowed that a new average is given based upon his 2016 Elite League form. 5 points from 5 rides therefore means that Antonio Lindback is now available on an average of 4.
