Sheffield 2017

Recommended Posts

Not just rostrum he is good at winning as well.

If you read his comments after all of his British Championship wins you would have heard him say thank you for the advice from certain people.

2014 British Under 21 title winner at Wolverhampton limited experience of the track listened and took the advice from Ty Proctor.

2015 British Under 19 title winner at Berwick struggle badly when riding at Berwick previously listen and took the advice of Simon Stead and storm to victory unbeaten.

2016 British Under 21 title winner at Sheffield Robert Lambert head and shoulders and looking like he was going to walk the final, Josh again enlists the advice of Simon Stead, and when it counts out guns Robert Lambert.

Not only does he seek out for the best possible advice, he listens and can actually put into practice what he has been advised to do, not many youngsters can do that .

One of the most interesting, constructive and informative posts I've seen on this forum. I feel enlightened and I've learnt something. Will view young Bates in a different light next time I see him race. :t:

glasgow would love him, didn't he score 17 there for somerset last season??? and they need some half decent 2nd strings having gone with a top heavy team this season

Are you for real? Batesy did indeed score 17, but then caused a near-riot when he took on the entire Glasgow team and track-staff in a game of bare-knuckle fisticuffs. His antics didn't endear him to the Glasgow faithful.

Even on that average wouldn't have him anywhere near Glasgow.

Understandably our paramedics are relieved he won't be anywhere near Glasgow also.

He says he is not going to put himself under so much pressure next season, and he is just going to try and enjoy it. That could work for him and he might be a lot calmer on the bike. Imo if he starts well he could be in for a good season. I hope. We now need a good number 1. Another Josh please.

Seen on another thread that Rob Branford is being tipped to come to Sheffield - could he be this 'solid reserve' Bates is talking about?

Don't think he's very good around Owlerton, but he could be useful around some of the opposition tracks. Put in a decent display guesting for us in the playoffs.

On 4.60 that'd leave 14.56 for a number 1 and second string, interesting!

Not quiet sure about that managed to score 8 there with Rye House and according to the updates was leading Howarth for a few laps before clipping the fence.

From what ive been told about the track you need fast engines which if true Rob will need to invest in which im sure he will.

Think there's deffo one 2.5% reduction in one average and maybe a second so the points available will be more.

Even more interesting!

He'll have to have words with Mr. Hunter - probably one of the best ever sponsors of a speedway team in GB. Sheffield have a great supporter in him.

It gets better all the time - great team building this year, well for next year that is!

10.26 remaining, Steady would leave us with less than 2 points so that looks like the end of him at Sheffield 😞☹️️

Steady to announce his plans over the weekend: http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/speedway/sheffield-tigers/sheffield-tigers-ideal-move-for-josh-grajczonek-came-after-good-word-was-put-in-1-8256583

Also welcome to Josh, tremendous signing !!!
