Swindon 2017

Recommended Posts

Ellis - Spent most of last year in the number 2 position - not a heat leader.

Which will be the case for most 7-9 riders. The Summers, Worralls, Garrity, Lawson, Kurtz and Howarth all rode either as second string or reserve. Only really Grajczonek, Masters and Lambert who spent any time as heat leaders.

The headline states 'Rossiter expects Morr from Morris next term', all sounds rather familiar, really find it odd to have signed Bellego on his average when he clearly had Nick pencilled in anyway , so we are looking at a true number one then a second string promising more every season a young Brit on an inflated average( who btw WAS a draft rider until recently) a Pl rider who has a bitty up and down time guesting EL and a whopping 12+ to find 3 more riders, the rumoured 6 we have signed are slowly coming to fruition and i think other sides will instead of fearing us will be having a quiet chuckle

In this league Morris is a heatleader, people need to stop looking at is as a weakened EL, it is a strengthened PL, in the PL Nick Morris is a heatleader without question.

Under the 2016 regulations he should be on his 2015 PL figure 7.91 rather than his converted 8.97

"It means riders who only raced in the Elite League last season will see their average increased by a factor of 1.4 to bring them in line with Premier League averages."

Morris has an EL average from last year so it should be converted, it is the most recent representation of his ability. If we go down the lines of letting him in on his 2015 PL average then there would be an argument for Adam Ellis being allowed to use his last PL figure.

There would be no argument for Ellis, he has been away from the PL for more than one season. The rule was you could move up (or down) for a season and then move back on your old average if it didn't work out. But looking at the quote you have posted, thats not the case.

Commitment? Did he not ask for a move at one point? I would suggest we've been loyal to him over the years so this flannel Alun has come out with commitment doesn't wash with me , so what do you think we can come up with with 12.15 remaining or are you prepared to name who you have heard because I seriously hope it isn't Lykke!

No not bad, truly shocking!

No need to be so flippant with your 'wetting your pants' or 'usual suspects' , it is looking a poor looking side that is my opinion yours may differ but no need for the insults from yourself , you generally have differing opinions to myself but I'm not all doom and gloom just saying it like I think it is so why don't we just keep things like that in future? As for one or two others and there opinions I won't count them unless they actually start appearing on a more regular basis just like mugs like I do every week every season ...and btw that's not aimed at CR as he has a very legit reason

Thanks mate & after 3 years of being laid up for long periods & my daughter finishing Uni I'm hoping to be up the Abbey most weeks in 2017.

Just hope the team is competitive but really do think points have been wasted on Bellego as Sedgy is a better rider & knows the tracks.

No-one knows what will happen when the riders get new averages but for sure the riders waiting will want paying a premium.

Yet riders who rode very few meetings in the Premier League like Klindt & Brady are allowed to due to rolling averages from meetings rode in 2015.

There should've been a minimum of meetings for all riders or they went on Elite league averages that both the named riders did full seasons in.

Steady on there shocks, you will get the old blood pressure rising mate! Seriously, it's good to see some early debate over the side for 2017. Let's not forget however, the team is not completed yet. Time yet for Rosco to come up with a golden nugget.

Once gain, Poole looking the team to beat.

Yes Poole the team who will have at least 2 riders on Premier League averages rather than their higher Elite League ones.

Oh & probably Klindt who will also use his lower Premier League average.

Before people say it this isn't a pop at Poole but a dig at the pathetic promotors who voted this rule in.

Yet again they had a chance to set an even playing field but failed the fans of their team.

Well you cannot blame Matt ford for that, but im sure you will try...

I actually like what Swindon are doing with their lineup so far.

Potentially signing 3 low averaged riders with the 4 signed makes them look weak on paper but they could make changes reasonably early and come strong at the finish like Wolves did last year.

A few shrewd replacements is all it takes.

Was that following the well documented problems in 2013.....I'd say a fair few fancied a break at that point! Fortunately seems to all be back on a good footing again, so in my opinion it's nice to see a little loyalty and commitment on both sides of the coin. Nick will be fine for his average when you look at the strength of the league. When all teams are fully declared then we'll see, but Poole look strong (par for the course), other than that it's all pretty much of a muchness.

I'm not prepared to name names, but I'd bet my house that it's not Lykke. (please don't come back to bite me!)

Whether my opinion counts with you or not I'm unsure, but having missed just a handful of home meetings over the last 15 years or so, I'd like to think reasoned debate would be welcomed.

I called at Blunsdon this morning on my way up to Cirencester for an auction to see how the new stadium is coming along.

I took some pics but dont seem able to post them here.

Well its amazing what I saw. The carpark looked completely different. There were only three cars in it!

And there was a white portakabin with Conlon on it. And an old jcb. Errrrrr. And some rubble. Errrrrr. And one bloke in a hard hat. Sitting having a drink from his flask. Looked bored senseless. There was also a stack of metal railings.

Nothing going on. Nothing to see. Have to say expected some activity.

Thanks for that report Steve, it is a pity you cannot show the pictures of a British company pulling out all the stops and working like beavers to get the stadium built for June 2017, maybe they have realised it might be June 2018.

I have seen pics posted on here but there seems no way i can do it. If anyone wants me to to email them the pics so they can be put online let me know.
