Swindon 2017

Recommended Posts

He wouldn't have the wisdom or the sincerity to deliver the apology mate. And in any case, he's in decline, goes missing when it matters and when it rains, he just as well not bother.

Yes, you're right on every level. Troy's 29 going on 14, but 2016 was an injury comeback & he did well in Denmark. Just a year ago he was mixing it pretty well in the GPs & he owes it to himself to prove everyone wrong. For years Doyle seemed to crash every meeting & no way could you see him overtaking Chris Holder on the world stage, let alone being the world champion elect. But it just shows what application can do.

Even at an inflated 7.36 he's one of few riders who could put a point on it. In the past his races against Chris Harris & teaming up with Leigh Adams have been among the highlights at Blunsdon. It could be Troy's last chance to look at himself & make Leigh proud.

just throwing a curve ball here, what about the 'kerbcrawler' Smolinski..?

I think his average would be too high. He finished 2013 on 7.56 which converts to 10.58.

Unless... there is a different rule for riders pre-draft format?

The riders too, which is crazy, why don't their promoters explain it to them?

I genuinely believe that the promoters have yet to agree how averages will be calculated once the season starts.

The headline states 'Rossiter expects Morr from Morris next term', all sounds rather familiar, really find it odd to have signed Bellego on his average when he clearly had Nick pencilled in anyway , so we are looking at a true number one then a second string promising more every season a young Brit on an inflated average( who btw WAS a draft rider until recently) a Pl rider who has a bitty up and down time guesting EL and a whopping 12+ to find 3 more riders, the rumoured 6 we have signed are slowly coming to fruition and i think other sides will instead of fearing us will be having a quiet chuckle

Agree totally as strange to sign Bellego when Nick was coming back.

Can only see a relegation battle with what is expected from the last 3 signings.

Is Morris confirmed on last seasons converted average? I did see someone mention he could possibly be on his old PL average from 2015?

Under the 2016 regulations he should be on his 2015 PL figure 7.91 rather than his converted 8.97

It is good to see Nick back but he is going to have to improve on last years inconsistent scoring. He claimed last years performance was down to lack of meetings so hopefully he can get to ride regularly in the countries he mentions, ie Denmark and Poland.

I don't understand all the doom and gloom. Having honoured the deal done with Doyley, the team was always going to be weak further down. I am not expecting Swindon to finish the season with the starting 1-7 so I would expect Rosco to have some contingencies in place (granted this isn't fair on the lesser lights but at least they will get some experience) and I would much rather have Doyley in the team. As said by others, I would have also gone for Noddy Holder to give the strongest top 2 in the league but that really would give a very long tail.

Not expecting much in the first month or so but will strengthen and then we should start to climb the table. However, if we do finish the season with our starting 1-7 we will most definitely be screwed.

How can you have a contingency in place if you do not know who will be averaging what by the time changes are allowed? Poole Wolves Rye so far look perfectly acceptable sides that at most may require a tweak ours if as mooted look like it may need a overhaul ,it was quite clear last season Doyle needed a consistent second in command does anyone really believe he will have one this year?

No chance mate this side looks like it's been built a bit on the cheap all I can see is Lykke Klindt and Wajtnecht

On the cheap....with arguably the best rider in the World in 2016?

A 22 year old asset who's shown commitment to the Club and who averaged on par with Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris in 2016 whilst riding the season as a heatleader.....yet both Bomber and Scott are deemed great signings on bargain averages!

Unsure where the Lykke link comes from although have seen it on here a few times.....it's certainly not what I've heard.

I see the usual suspects are all wetting their pants again. :) What or who did you expect?

Nick didn't have a great season last year, sure. But of the 4 we've signed I'd say he is the most likely to keep to the starting average he has been signed on.

This is Premier League with a 50 point limit. I saw second tier teams 10 years ago that were stronger than this year's top flight.

We have the rider who was best in the World last year. Plus a 9 point PL rider in Nick Morris. Sounds about right to me.

Bellago was number one for his club last year. Adam Ellis is maybe over averaged, but still a decent rider to have on board.

OK, we don't look as strong as the touted Poole side - but that's par for the course for everyone every year.

This is a weak league. These riders will do fine. We may pay a price for keeping a top rider in the UK, but good for Rosco for keeping it. I probably wouldn't have bothered to attend any meetings at all if Doyle had been dumped.
