Swindon 2017

Recommended Posts

Well done to Swindon last night mullered us good and proper who seemed to want it most was the robins most disappointing to me was our lack of effort so it seemed hate losing but if is after giving everything then can accept it but when it seems we were not up for it that is what gets my goat

Swindon will be in the Play/Off. if their luck continues. With points at Leicester with only half a team in the end and winning a Poole with no No1 Every little helps.

Along with winning home and away against table topping Belle Vue without our own No.1......our luck is obviously well in at the moment

I know. We've been so lucky - especially against Leicester where we were lucky enough to be without our number one and then lose two riders to injury during the meeting (although the commentators on tv didn't seem to notice that, so there's no reason you should have either).

And as for those lucky wins against Wolves and Belle Vue, who were really unfortunate to have race us when we were without Jason Doyle and, in one case, Nick Morris as well. Jammy again! Unbelievable.

And then we won at Poole who didn't have their number one. Oh. Hang on. Yes they did.

Poole have had no number one all season so how on earth that helped them i dont know as its been the same for every side facing Poole.

Leicester finished the meeting with 4 riders and Swindon 5. Swindon lost their tops scoring reserve and Leicesters reserves scored 30 points to Swindons 3 points.........also Swindon won home and away against Belle Vue and away at Leicester without the World Number One..really lucky.

I dont know who you support but you smack of sour grapes

We haven't had a No.1 all season yet we have taken at least a point in every away meeting.

Having a crap number one is not the same as not having one at all.

It is if you have Krzysztof Kasprzak at No.1.

And 36 points last night.

Doesn't matter in fact if you would have said to me at the start of the night you have two options.

Option No.1 - Poole take 3 league points and KK remains as our No.1 despite only scoring half a dozen points.

Option No.2 - Poole lose. KK scores poorly and gets the sack and team changes would be made within a week.

I would choose option No.2 because both teams will make the play-offs and the league isn't won in July. KL have basically fell apart so the top 4 will remain as it is.

Teams could look different when the play-offs come around. Poole certainly will.

You seem very certain Poole will make the play offs.

6 points ahead of Lynn who have 3 matches in hand......isnt cut and dried

Lynn have fell apart as a club. R. Lambert said Lynn are the laughing stock of Speedway. C. Holder doesn't want to ride for Lynn and he wont bother trying if Lynn get closer to us in the table.

Remember at the start of the year. Swindon were roundly mocked by opposing fans for keeping hold of Doyle and making up the team with a bunch of "fillers". Swindon fans groaned as the side was put together.

Ellis on a 7? Bellago.. eh? Who?

But what Rosco did was actually very smart. While everyone gushed over Rye House, who filled up with "name" riders on the way down in their careers, he made up the team with riders who were rapidly improving. It was pretty clear that Ellis and Bellego, in particular, were riders he was very keen on signing irrespective of what average they were on.

The averages these riders were on were no more reality than Doyle's 13.41. He focussed on a team that would gel and riders that were improving. And in this past week this has kicked in big-time.

Then there was the troublesome position in the side which needed to be sorted out. Grondal not really scoring well, Gappmaier not even being there most of the time. And Rossiter was getting a LOT of stick over this position - people calling the side a failure. People demaning he sign Josh Auty, for example.

Rosco is not a great tactical manager, but where he really shines is finding riders to sign. When all the slating of the side was going on by those now glorying in the recent success, not one person mentioned Tobias Musielak on 4.5. But he came in and has been brilliant.

And the amazing thing about it is that the side's current form really kicked in with Doyle not even riding due to his broken foot.

If this current form lasts we could even be in with a shout of winning the title - but things can change so rapidly in this sport. Look at King's Lynn all of a sudden. And the last time Swindon looked to have a potential league-winning side was when Darcy came in to the side, and we all know how suddenly that all collapsed.

But, for the moment at least, it's great to see a side of no-hopers confounding everyone - and a lot of the credit for that has to go to Rosco, who clearly knew what he was doing when selecting a side that gave everyone else kittens.

Wrong as quite a few mentioned Tobias on the various other forums.
