Giving it your best is going into the meeting without your No 1 and using R/R? To me the Lakeside team without AJ is nothing more than a Premier League outfit. Just saying. So long as he can ride close to his average you rely on team mates to win the home meetings. Then you have a rider who should score well away from home, but whose average doesn't get inflated by big home scores.Downside is, it's not great for the rider! The downside of having a track where you need 'specialists' to ride it is a lack of riders who can when you are missing your best.. The upside is of course it helps to get you to the play offs when your team is full of those specialists.. Still, best of luck to the Hammers.. But obviously hope we win... The other problem is the rider gets lot of flak from fans, most of whom only see the hme performances, even though they are often match winners away. ( eg. Hans Andersen at Cov last year or Zagar and Nichols at BV this season. Incidentally aktuellspeedway has a home/away breakdown of EL averages and the Lakeside figures are quite dramatic. Home: 1. Kennett 2. Jonsson 5. Swiderski 7. Nilsson Away 6. Jonsson 25. That is excatly the point. Of all the riders that have guested in place of AJ in the last couple of years the only one that wasn't total rubbish was Scott Nicholls. None of the others even scored six points let alone anything approaching the average they were on. It's all very well for people to keep on about having a big name but who are you realistically going to get that knows the track, could give a toss whether Lakeside go through of not, as long as they get their guaranteed payment. , and most importantly, brings his own equipment. At least Kasprzak has his own bikes over here. I woukd love some big name star to step into the breach, but I don't think there are any that would fit the bill at this end of the season. I cannot guarantee anybody coming in and doing as good a job as AJ. Just to attract more Speedway supporters to fight the Dartford tunnel Traffic ( ) get in somebody like Hancock.
