Daftest Nickname?

Think I read it in Briggo' book 'Wembley And Beyond' about Mauger's early Sprouts Elder-style handlebars.

Moving slightly sideways, which is what we do on this forum, anyone recall or know who the rider was who needed a logo or slogan covering on his kevlars covering as it was offensive ? I can only remember him being a Dane (or maybe a Swede) who in his first ever meet over here wore kevvies from his 'own country' so all the lettering was in a foreign language and wasn't understood by us Brits - apart from this one word or phrase....

Not sure about kevlars but I think many of us will recall Preben Eriksen's van with a scantily clad young lady showing her rear end. I seem to remember some carefully placed insulation tape was required.

Type Preben Eriksen van into Google images and you will see what I mean! :t:

Some from the late great C O:

Cream Bun Kid - Johnnie Reason

Muscles - Les Owen

The Man - Ron Mountford

The Beau - Nigel Boocock

Not sure of the origin, but we also had

Bryan "Chirpy" Elliott

"Hurriken" McKinlay

Mr Shouty regularly refers to Greg "Herbie" Hancock

I recall Eriksen's van, hey it was 'just' a van (!), it even made the weekly motorcycle comics: MCN & Motorcycle Weekly....

I thought Andy Smith was called Foxy?

Both Smudger and foxy if I recall, perhaps Smudger was in the early years. Assume it was because he looked like the beano character of that name.

Ole "Cobber" because of his accent from talking with Ivan Mauger.

Which certainly qualifies as a daft nickname, as cobber is an Australian term, and Ivan certainly wasn't an aussie.
