The Doctor...
Being the speedway historian that i am, i was just wondering if anyone has any memories or more info about former rider Robert Lightfoot. He of Stoke Potters and Leicester Lions in the 80s. Just wondering... Thanks Tom

waiheke1
Does anyone know if he raced and beat several world champions? Actually just looked up his record, and clearly He didn't. Unless there were some in the field at the British junior champs. Iirc correctly he broke his neck ending his career. So im sure he would be a keen supporter of the Ben fund... Edited September 15, 2016 by waihekeaces1

Elmo
He was one of my favourite juniors at blackbird road along with David Blackburn, Miles Evans, Chris Pidcock & Guy Wilson.

Wackie
You're not old enough. Looking at his results Robert Lightfoot did win the British Junior Championship in 1981, I was watching speedway then. Some good riders have picked up that title along the years, Havvy & Loram both won it once, Woffinden however out did them all with 2 titles. jrs
Was he not the son of Jim Lightfoot the former Coventry rider.(might be wrong though) To the best of my knowledge he is Jim's lad, as Jim used to work with my old man. I am sure I heard that Robert had a business in the Rugby area I think in the furniture or flooring . Elmo, was David Blackburn the son of Mick Blackburn ? jrs
Cheers Elmo, I thought that might be the case as Mick and Jim worked together, and then you mentioning them both riding at Leicester rang a bell that he might be Mick's lad. Elmo
if it was Robert63 I could understand but not 72. I have some pictures in my old scrapbook including one of Rob & Jim but it won't let me copy here as too big.
