Changing A Team For The Play Offs

Well done to Poole for getting Lindback but now is the time to introduce a rule to stop teams changing just for the play off's. It makes a mockery of the sport and an uneven playing field.

I dont understand averages but 7 seems low for a GP rider. That needs looking at too.

Buster needs to get his new rule book sorted for 2017.

I'm afraid for me (if It had any) team speedway in the uk lost all credibility and the sport in general seems a sideshow event now.

I think you should have to name a set amount of riders at the start of the season and can only use them, say 8 or 10 if you want to be generous

I'm almost of a mind that perhaps the team season could be a KO event just held in August perhaps first round 2 groups of 4 then the playoffs

Perhaps it's time people started listening to Matt Ford! Matt has been calling for a squad system for donkey's years.

A proper set of rules needs to be in place to stop these things happening. We cannot have a system where any one party can make a decision regarding something as important as an assessed average. It must be a documented procedure with no exceptions. The only time exceptions should be made is before the season and it shouldn't be decided by any one person. The entire process should be transparent.

Speedway has a huge transparency issue. If you want to stop these things happening then you've got to stop turning up and giving them your money. It's the only way unfortunately.

You don't need a squad system to solve the problems with averages and riders coming in just for the playoffs. What you need is:

1. A change to the average rule so that foreign riders get the same average that they have in their own home league.
If we use Lindbäck as an example. He has 2.011 with the Swedish average system (average points/heat) and he have done 90 heats in 18 meetings.
That would be an average of 10.055 points/meeting.

In the Swedish league there are fixed ratios to which averages are brought over fore new foreign riders that does not have an official Swedish average:

1,0 Polska Extraliga
0,8 GB Elite League, Polska förstaliga.
0,7 DK Superliga, Tjeckiska Extraliga.
0,6 GB Premier League, Ryska förstaligan.
0,5 Polska andraliga, Tyska Bundesliga.
0,4 Övriga ligor.

2. Transfer windows. In Sweden we have one windows just before the season start and one in the middle of the season (this year it was during the SWC break)

outside these windows, Svemo will not register any changes to the team except for Swedish 0,500 (2.00) riders that can be added whenever a team wants and
also long time injured riders (see 3.)

3.. A rule for the replacement of long time injured riders. In Sweden the rider that is being replaced have to be expected to be away for at least 4 weeks (28 days).

The replacing rider, will stay for all 4 weeks even if the injured returns before the 4 weeks have elapsed. The replacing rider also cannot have an average

that is greater the rider he replaces, the average have to be the same or lower then the rider he is replacing.

I thought there was a cut off date to stop this..or is it allowed because he is a Poole asset already?

Does make a total mockery of the 6 month qualifying tournament.

I sincerely hope that next season any rider in a play-off match MUST have ridden a certain number of regular league meeting to be eligible. The rule book is a complete joke

There is a cut off date, there is also a grace period for an injury up to 7 days before the play offs start.

The rule was bought in to help clubs who have riders with season ending injuries.

Poole lost the services of Piotr Pawlicki and couldn't replace him. They lost the services of Darcy Ward and couldn't replace him.

Now they can it makes sense. Pretty sure late season injuries have affected other clubs as well.

Its not 'doing a Wolverhampton' by bringing a world champion in and booting out a fit third heat leader. It is replacing a rider who is out for the season with a club asset.

Better than going into the playoffs using guests, though we would be probably stronger by doing that.

bringing in a rider with a bogus average .And no you wouldn't be stonger with guests. I hope it blows up in Ford's face

A transfer window is what is needed. If a rider gets injured then tough, go with R/R or guests. The idea of a rider being signed just for the Play Offs doesn't sit right.

In addition lets have averages (assessed or earned) published in March for every rider who could conceivably come over here so it's all nice and transparent. And make sure the assessed figures are realistic.

One example for you, let's just say it is a BV vs Poole final. Lakeside ended up finishing 4th, so Poole could use Tungate as a guest, he got 12 last time. Will Lindback get that then? How many did he get in the World Cup?

Ive said it before the two guests poole had v Belle vue in both b fixtures got 26+1 points from 10 rides with no tactical rides, im confident linback wont get close to that.

Exactly so people should be grateful we signed Lindback, it has made us weaker!! :D

Well i think linback will do well to get 20 paid over the 2 meetings so that would be a 7 Point drop, assuming we meet again of course.
