Poole Sign Lindback

Recommended Posts

I would have thought that was rather obvious.

Attempting to get a rider in whose current (albeit dated) is way above Andersen's and who is of current GP standard by having that average reduced. To me, that's trying it on big time and should unquestionably have been refused.

I doubt that there is anyone outside the south coast (and probably quite a few inside it) who believes that the decision to allow that reduction is either reasonable or justifiable.

I would say all Poole fans ( with the exception of one or two oddballs) are absolutely delighted Matt Ford has got a decent replacement in. The alternative would have been horses for courses guests. Harris at Wolves, Tungate at Belle Vue if we make it that far. They would score just as much as Lindback, or probably even more.

Dont be fooled, every promoter in the land has a win at all costs mentality just that some of in a better position to take advantage of the rules than others.

Even Jon Cook who seems to have adopted a hollier than though attitude since leaving Eastbourne (where he was part of a promotion that tried every trick in the book to win) has had odd moments of playing politics, an example being forcing Poole to visit with a heavily weakend side, althought that came back to bite him.

Why do you think hardly anything gets done at AGM's? its because they are too busy trying to feather their own nests whilst in the process of trying to find new loop holes to stop the others from having an advantage.

Baffling as it is that Lindback has been reassessed at 7, people need to keep some perspective here. Poole are bringing someone in to replace an injured rider. Full stop. No issue.

I reckon Matt Ford might have used a bit of persuasion to get Lindback at 7, but so he should. He's trying to get someone into his side. He was probably as surprised as anyone else when whoever decides the averages actually agreed!

I can see the argument now - Lindback's average was achieved under a different race format. With the current one, heat leaders meet heat leaders more often, therefore a reduction is in order. Counter argument is that the league is diluted from years previous. Poole's argument won the day, end of. Hoping that the same seven of Belle Vue prevail in the play-offs, as they have all contributed to our success this season.

So after all the pages and pages of generally anti-Poole ire, I wonder what the reaction is going to be if Poole now replace Kyle Newman (injured knee at Swindon last night!) with Paul Starke for the play-offs??

ps. Hans is hoping to be fit for the Blue Riband on October 14th!!

pps. Chris Harris for Poole next season??!!

Yet Hancock wasn't reassessed when he came in 2 years ago nor AJ who returned with the Hammers a couple of seasons ago either.

What we do now know is if anyone brings in a top rider on a 7 next year (highly unlikely but let's be optimistic) it will be a new assessed 7.

Hopefully get Tai back next season on a new assessed 7 then.

Wow, just seen the news.. but I am not at all surprised Poole managed to bring in someone of Lindback's calibre for the play-off's. It's always Poole. What a farce.

I was ridiculed for creating a thread congratulating Belle Vue for winning the league and this exactly why I despise the play off's. The title can be manipulated... cheated!!!!

I remember an uproar on here a few years back when Swindon brought in Damien Balinski on 5.00 during the few seasons when Swindon got all the stick that Poole now get. His average at the end of the year was exactly 5.00.

It'll be interesting to see what Lindback does score from his matches.

New rule needs to come in. Riders are not eligible for the play-off's unless they have raced at least three months of the domestic season.

Sounds pretty boring to me. And unworkable too. So a rider who joins the team in July has to stand down whilst he's replaced with a guest? Here's a better idea, each team can sack one heat leader of their choice before the play offs to replace with an international rider of their choice.

I'd rather the 4 teams in the play offs get to bring in some of the GP stars than some silly rule to add to the growing list of diluting rules.

I disagree.

I think every Poole fan will be delighted in no different way than every Wolverhampton one was when Woffinden signed or every Belle Vue one would be if, to use Stevebrum's example, Sajfutdinov replaced Fricke.

In truth, every fan in the country would be ecstatic if their team strengthened up before the play offs or any other big meeting and furious if that chance was spurned.

No. I am more than happy with BV 1-7. They have done us absolutely proud all season and win or lose these playoffs we can hold our heads up high and say "well done boys". They all deserve to ride in these playoffs. I would honestly be furious if we brought Emil in at this point. Our morals would be shot! Would love him at our place next season though!

what problem?

pure comedy gold.

Either bringing in 'ringers' is fine or it isn't seeing as both Poole and wolves have one.

Re-Assess Woffy to 9 and Lindback to a minimum 8 seems fair to me.

Stevebrum admitting that Woffy is a ringer.
