happyvalleywoolerman
End of an era if Dick goes but all things pass and new men will know they need to keep matches going and never leave us not knowing what has happened to cause delays because Dick always told us what and why
damosuzuki
Remember Dick Barry at Powderhall (I think!) years and years ago. Not a fan of his jokes but another true speedway fanatic. I'm sure he'll stay involved and has been a real cheerleader for Berwick. All the best.
MD
A wind up merchant all the same. At a Ber v Edin match, on spotting the elusive Thomas H Jonasson in the crowd quipped 'funny he can turn up to watch'. Hilarious at the time especially as the 0131 in the stand were raging. Normski
Can remember at Berrington Lough Carl Blackbird was excluded from a race and was not a happy bunny, as he walked up the track Dick just happened to say over the mic Bye Bye Blackbird everybody was amused apart from Blackbird lol
alang
Calm down with the praise and memories. There's not many free Saturdays in the fixture list to fit in The Dick Barrie Testimonial meeting.

And compared to the late Dave Lanning at Eastbourne he's definitely second class when it comes down to throwing insults at the opposition now there was a personality who could really stir supporters up. Yes he always had a dig at those from the left hand side as he called them. But nearly all presenters have their little digs at the visitors. The presenter at Edinburgh used to be non-stop with Peter Waite, who did exactly the right thing and just laughed it off.

My guess is probably lots of them. His job was partly to do that as all presenters do. Vast majority of riders and fans enjoy a bit of banter

topsoil
Hard to believe it's 15 years since he was a Tiger . Been a great servant to British speedway and he deserves this He's a great role model as captain. Always has time for supporters, you should see the kids round him when the riders go into the crowd after the meeting. The story of him going into the crowd amongst the Berwick fans after the PLRC to thank them sums him up.
