DSC67
Bollocks he was regularly a high scorer in meetings when some of the heat leaders were not firing and this year at second string riders will be weaker surely? when he was at reserve he was getting 6 maybe 7 starts when he's at number 4 or 2 he'll only get
Normski
So a team like this would keep Liam in the reserve berth. D Bellego 7.63, K Doolan 6.99, C Vissing 6.80, T Proctor 6.68, D Gappmaier 5.00, L Carr 4.81, R Shuttleworth 2.00. TOTAL 39.

screm
Bollocks he was regularly a high scorer in meetings when some of the heat leaders were not firing and this year at second string riders will be weaker surely? Â Some of Carr`s scores towards the end of last season were excellent but it should be remembered he had six or seven races some nights, and some of those races were against opposition reserve riders. Racing in the No2 race jacket he can only have a maximum of five rides, most of which will be against opposition heat leaders.

That's the next stage of his apprenticeship though , he cant be protected at reserve for ever . Look at Paul Starke , kicked about as a three pointer for a couple of years , then his career started to make progress until last season he wasn't far off heat leader level . Who's to say young Liam can't make similar progress .

Lygonlad
I believe in Liam anyway and would not like to see somewhere else benefit his progress! Weaker league therefor I think he will shock a few!
Barnstormer
Pretty sure Gappmaier under new rules is 4.00 start season As his end season one was 3.75 Edited November 13, 2016 by Barnstormer
Normski
Pretty sure Gappmaier under new rules is 4.00 start season As his end season one was 3.75 Bit confusing his effective average is 3.75 but it also has 5.00 in brackets. Reviresco
4.00 is the Match Average allocated to "new" foreign riders next season. Â 5.00 will be the Match Average allocated to "existing" foreign riders who did not attain an average above 5.00 in 2016, so Gappmaer would be allocated a commencing Match Average of 5.00 for 2017 - as would Riders like Paco Castagna, Mason Campton and Mark Riss. Pogo1
No they won't, if they have averaged under 4 that's what they will be rounded up to , if they have for example a 4.50, that's what average they will start with.

balderdash&piffle
Pretty sure going by this week Star it's a 4.00 instead of 5 As usual not a clear statement. Â "The minimum average for foreign riders competing in both leagues is 4.00- down from 5.00 imposed in the Premier League this year" Â The stress being on that word MINIMUM. balderdash&piffle
Does anyone actually know? is it 4 or 5? lol According to BSPA site the figure in brackets is the figure for team building, so in The Gaps case 5.00
Tyrion
Liam will struggle to maintain that average in the main body of the team.  I disagree  The traditional idea of a second string or top 5 rider will be broken next season. The teams put forward on here for all clubs up and down the league are by fans but they are suggestions that show how much the landscape has shifted in terms of sides being assembled under the new points limit.  It does look like riders the ilk of Ayers, Ashley Morris, Perry and Carr are going to be top 5 riders for a lot of clubs, and as a result there will be a clutch of riders in the same boat when it comes to racing in the top 5. And that is before considering the probability of watered down reserves eg Phillips, Bailly, Greaves retaining places due to their attractive 2 point averages as well as the addition of new riders to the league. All of this evidence suggest Carr (Or Perry) will be a par top 5 riders per se and thus more than worth their place if they perform to the level expected of them, which should be the same level irrespective of the race jacket number on the back IMO as that doesn’t change the standard of rider either (Perry or Carr if signed) should be expected to beat, and it looks like that list will be large enough to merit the inclusion of either (or both)  A team build from the following would be my "ideal world" side albeit that's not always possible.  Garrity Carr Kerr Robson/Howarth Doolan Perry Greaves/AN Other 2 point rider in the hope they can hit their 2 points and be the best of the rest. In Berwicks case, when selecting riders, simply due to being a new promotion with financial limitations, they ought to be looking at using it's asset base as much as possible. The team above has 1 asset rider.
