Newcastle 2017

Wonder what the original team that came to 40.01 was?

I think that Coles will be good :t: And Phillips better than he was :P

looking pretty close to this years team .

Well not really, we're missing a heat leader and a second string from last years team, that's a big hole to fill, but I think that they've filled it good with the new league

I honestly thought Lambert would have gone to Peterborough or somewhere along those lines.

I thought he wouldn't ride the Championship at all, shame on me for over sizing his head, sorry Robert, because I'm sure he'll defiantly see this ^_^ lol

Well, that's the diamonds sorted!

Very happy with Worrall and Lambert back, wouldn't be surprised if Lambert beat the TR next season.

Lightning back with no Kus is a bit of a shame, but he's still a quality rider on his own.

Lewis Rose is back and in the main body of the team. Rightfully deserved. Expecting big things from him in 2017.

Good to see Ashley Morris back in the team! Even though he was introduced back end of this season, he still shone and impressed me.

My only concern is with the reserves. Danny is obviously improving, but can be inconsistent most of the time, sometimes not scoring anything. I can't say anything about Coles since I've never seen him ride, but hopefully he can score some big points.

Not complaining about that,,, the reserve's maybe suspect, and can't see them bursting into the top5, but a few teams will be in the same boat :)

a think there might be too many swede's in there for some ;)

😂😂say it every year, we need him to be more consistent away from home more than ever next season haha.... go on Ludde!!

We also need Rose and Morris to push on in the main body as we will most likely struggle at reserve. So a bit of a gamble but its possible.

Robert will be available.

I did try to tell you. :P

Connor Coles is Michael Coles son, he rides for Mildenhall and has a higher average that Danny in the NL.

Top 5 is a match for most announced so far. Worrall & Lambert will be as good as any top 2 in the league, Lindgren will be a decent third heat leader. Morris will do a job at number 2 and Rose could be a key rider at 4 if he can recapture the form he was in before his injury. He could be a big improver again.

A couple of obvious issues though. Firstly the reserves. No problem at all with Coles and it's always enjoyable watching new British riders make their debut at this level and watch them progress. Newcastle have a fantastic record with riders such as Connor in recent history. Kyle Newman, Richie Worrall, Lewis Kerr and Lewis Rose have all arrived here as young relatively unknown riders and progressed at rapid rates so let's hope Connor can do something similar. He has a decent record at NL level which is on a par with the likes of Jack Smith, JPB and Danyon Hume. He has also been cutting his teeth at Mildenhall so the tight turns of Brough should hold no fears for him, not to mention his family background in the sport. I can remember watching his Dad for years riding for Edinburgh and Exeter and he was a quality rider.

Danny Phillips though needs to have a good year and he needs to start well. With an inexperienced youngster alongside him he can't afford to be 3 lengths behind going into the first corner like he was more often than not last year. He won't have Lewis Rose or Ashley Morris to protect him, but he has a year behind him now and must use that to his advantage. Personally, despite his efforts I didn't see signs of any real improvement last season so unless Connor is another Newman, Worrall, Kerr or Rose I fear for us in that department.

The other big problem is the availability of the top 3. We await to see which PL clubs they sign for but fair to assume that both Steve and Robert will be signing deals with Belle Vue, King's Lynn or whoever. Robert has also signed deals in Sweden and Poland as well as his U21 commitments. Ludde too missed a fair few meetings riding in both Swedish Leagues. Question is then what sort of side are we going to have on the road? Same as last season? Ultimately that was our undoing.

All of that said I have every sympathy with promoters trying to put teams together under a 40 point limit. The top British youngsters were always going to be gold dust and it's not surprising that they will go to the clubs with the most money. We have to build a side we can afford to employ and I don't think anybody can complain. Riders of the calibre of Stevie and Robert won't come cheap (and neither should they).

Finally I hope Palovarra, Terro and particularly Matej can get fixed up. Matty did nothing wrong last year and was actually very good around Brough. He can count himself unlucky to be left out but with so few options at the lower end of the scale and riders like Steve and Robert available and happy to return it was always on the cards that either he or Ludde would miss out. Hopefully relationships with the club are not damaged and he can return in the future. Likewise for Terro.

Happy with top 5 Robert and Steve will hopefully kick on to 9/10, say it every year but hopefully Ludvig will it is weaker league so possible. Delighted Morris is back along with Rose gives us second strings with potential. As expected reserves are a worry, Danny must improve it isn't optional we don't have a good reserve carry him which also mean slot pressure on his partner. Mind you i thought Coles looked decent when he guested for Plymouth considering he was at 1 for Kurtz against out top guys least he rode the track. Be fair plenty of teams could have rubbish reserves cause of shortage or inferior heatleaders so cant judge team yet.

well really pleased lambert is back

question is .... can we arrange meetings to avoid needing guests

1-5 is solid and looks good for pairs and fours

reserves is a gamble and r/r could be a real issue ......... but its gonna be the same for most teams

think promoters have done the best they can - well done ...another good team

Glasgow look the team so far with smith signed and if sissis rides at 6 ..... they will walk away with the league

Wonder what happened to Kus seems waste of time buying his contract. Mind you Robert and Steve are superior riders suppose somebody had to go.

From the little I saw of Coles in his few meetings for Ipswich at the end of last year I think he could do quite well.

Very enthusiastic and fell a few times but showed he can compete at reserve level. One that could kick on for sure.
