Newcastle 2017

Assuming it's not rained off tomorrow

Don't forget, a few years ago, they ran the PLRC (re-arranged after the first one got called off) in the early afternoon, to allow us to race against Workington later the same night.

Yes, but then the worky fixture was already in the fixture list. The PLRC was advertised as an early start as soon as it was rearranged. As yet we don't have a fixture on the 8th and the pairs has been advertised as a 3:00 pm start for some time. I can't imagine they would move the start time forward at this stage just to accommodate us.

So what is happening on Sunday?

Diamonds website says Workington, Workington website says Diamonds away, but Redcar website also says diamonds away !! Is it a double header? I can't believe redcar would report this fixture unless Newcastle had offered the date.

Unfortunately news coming out of the Diamonds camp has gone AWOL over the last few days - even a comment along the lines of "Diamonds management are working hard to secure dates for outstanding Championship and Cup fixtures and we will advise fans as soon as these are known" would at least comfort us to know activity is taking place!

One good thing is that the rearranged PLRC at Glasgow is planned for a Saturday rather than a Sunday again. Would have caused greater problems to Newcastle, having one less Sunday to utilise to get the the outstanding fixtures run before the deadline.

Still not been announced of a 7.30 start next Sunday against Worky ?

Now on Redcar site that they are not at Newcastle this week, sounds like it was redcar having rider issues

I am amazed that Newcastle have not put anything out on their website about the fixture chaos. The only meetings of the remaining few I want to see are the KO Cup matches against Glasgow and I would have thought these matches should be publicised as much as possible to bring in a bit more support and as much cash as possible before the sorry 2017 season ends

To be fair John, the fixture situation is a very fluid one with our outstanding opponents also trying to arrange their fixtures when they have their full team. There are permutations, but then other teams lose riders or arrange other fixtures so everything is changed again. At the present moment Glasgow would have been concentrating and prioritising their ties with Sheffield and beyond, but that is now likely to change big time with their heavy defeat at Sheffield last Thursday. Whilst they could have stood off certain dates for the next round, they now face losing out in the PlayOffs at tomorrows home meeting in the second leg, so they can now make themselves available when they thought they couldn't. With the postponement of the PLRC yesterday, they have agreed to rerun it at Glasgow, but this time of their usual race night which is a Saturday. That's one less race night for them, but it means we have still got 4 Sundays to utilise for our fixtures outstanding. If we beat Glasgow we would need meetings for the semifinals and even might for the Final against either Ipswich or Sheffield. It is ridiculous that all teams have so many meetings to cram in in such a short period, and you think that some haven't made much effort during the season to fit in some of the postponed meetings.

It's crazy situation.

So we have 3 league fixtures and 1 (at least) KOCup,,, with maybe 2 more too, thats possibly 6 fixtures in 4 Sunday's.

a don't think you could do double-headers in the KOCup, so you maybe need 3 Sunday's for that,,, hopefully we could get Sheff and Redcar in a double header ?

Do you get penalised for not completing your league fixtures ?

It's crazy situation.

is it something that should have and could have been avoided ?

More effort should have been made to fill empty race nights early on.

It’s been raised season after season and still it happens every single year.

The cup situation was raised a month ago and the QF ties are still not confirmed although the secondary outstanding Championship matches appeared to have been sorted.

What empty race nights? Since the first postponed fixture we haven't had any. All blank sundays were due to other BSPA events or rain-offs! apart from the one after the Cardiff GP, and a GN run day when everybody we still have to race were already racing elsewhere.
