Congratulations Belle Vue - League Champions

Recommended Posts

Call me old school, but for me the team that finishes top of the table at the end of the season are the rightly and worthy League Champions. So congratulations Belle Vue on a fantastic season.

The Play-off's are a gimmick for Sky. Clearly every season most of you say that you love the play-off's but to me it means the team that's worked the hardest all season long could lose out because of bad luck in the final matches. Effectively the league title is decided across four matches, how is that championship worthy? Surely the point of a league season is to find the most consistent team? After all, that's why we now have the GP's, to find the best rider over the entire season.

Well good luck telling Poland, Sweden, Denmark that! Playoffs generate money and well that's not enough of it in speedway at the moment.

So we have given the credibility of our league title winners for a few quid from Sky? Is that what you're saying?

Like I said, we have a GP system where to find the most consistent world champion, should be the same for the league title.

If they were a gimmick for Sky then the Pl would have not them would they ? Do sky control the speedway in Poland and Sweden as well who also have them .can't wait to watch the ice hockey play offs ..on no there not on sky lol

I am sure 99% of you will say that, but doesn't mean I am actually wrong. Leicester finished the Premier League top of the table in football last season, didn't need a gimmick of play off to keep that entertaining.

Yes it does mean you are wrong.

100% categorically wrong.

No because the league has a million other things to play for ...Speedway does not . if the pl had no Promotion and relegation no champions league sports to fight for etc etc the play offs would be brought in right away .

well considering BV are in a bit of trouble with the old money situation i think they might need the Playoffs. Its also TV which all the sponsors who sponsor every Elite league team want TV time and the playoffs are a time to show that. I guess you are a BV fan I guess you just scared well because you will probs lose to Poole and Wolves over 2 legs.

There's no doubt about which team you support though😉

I thought the Premier League have a league winner in the team who finish top & then a play off winner?.

Am I wrong in thinking that?.

Same thread appears every year but at the start of the year every team knows that they are riding to make the playoffs and then it's winner takes all. Yes it would be good if we had league champions and then playoff winners but that's not how it is

Hhahhahaa. I guess you support the robins. Could be worse.

True - he could support Poole

Thought I had dozed off on the sofa and woken up after the playoffs.

No Belle Vue are not League Champions. They have won the right to choose who they are going to meet in the playoff semis. They have won nothing else......yet.

We should have a league topper's trophy as well as league champion's trophy ...... the play offs are for SKY, for the clubs, for the fans but they can't take away the fact that a team has topped the league over the season .......

No there not for sky as the Pl would not have them would they ? they have them because clubs want them to keep the season alive keep the crowds up and make much needed money ......When the play offs start no one will give a monkeys who finished top
