secsy1
With a poor days racing and the disappointment of riders not taking part at PLRC a new direction for all 3 riders championships is required. The NSS is the ideal venue for all 3 on consecutive days, Friday for NLRC, Saturday for PLRC and Sunday for ELRC. A truly magnificent idea for a late date in October as when the Old BLRC took place. All play off matches finished and champions crowned the Riders Championships should end the season. Unless a new direction with these events is adopted then drop them as they are fast becoming meaningless to disgruntled fans. Today's episode at Sheffield shows that a man in charge thinks that it was great, but the paying public were more than dis satisfied with lack of programmed riders appearing as they were injured or indisposed. Gemini
It might be a good idea but it wouldn't change things with riders dropping out as these meetings just don't have the same interest to them as it had years ago and it must be hard for some of them to think of different excuses to avoid riding. Probably the fans too aren't that bothered these days ~ I know I'm not, although I might go to the National League one as it's only up the road. I think you've probably also forgotten that there is now a G.P. in Australia in October so some top EL riders will be heading down under come the middle of that month. (This year's is on the 22nd.) toontrader
"Today's episode at Sheffield shows that a man in charge thinks that it was great, but the paying public were more than dis satisfied with lack of programmed riders appearing as they were injured or indisposed." Some riders have always skipped these type of meetings. It used to be a broken down van but I think this results in a fine now. These days a rider always seems to get 'injured' in their last race for their club before the event, or even 'practising' after the meeting or loading their bikes into their van. One rider who missed yesterday also missed last years Fours after hurting his bike loading his van after scoring a maximum as a guest the previous night The only way to deal with this is that any rider who misses a shared event for whatever reason, automatically has to miss the next fixture for his club and can only be replaced by a NL rider Riders complain about needing more backers and sponsors. Sponsors want to see riders taking part in prestige meetings and winning trophies. Who would want to sponsor a rider who has a habit of dropping out of big events. Imagine how the riders sponsors would feel arriving at the event of having arranged to go to the PLRC and they finding their sponsored rider doesn't turn up Edited September 12, 2016 by toontrader
screm
Decent idea in principle but probably unworkable in practice, for example had the three meetings had taken place in the weekend just gone, and the ELRC had been yesterday you wouldve had no Doyle, Woffinden, Holder, Kasprzak, Zagar, NKI, or Nicholls all racing in Poland, though Nicholls missed his due to a delayed flight but still take all those riders away and your left with a poorer version of what should be a decent meeting. screm
Read the 1st post the poster suggested a date in late October for these meetings. I did, I also read post 2 that points out there is a GP in Australia in October where the GP riders who race in our EL will be heading to, this years is on Oct 22nd.

screm
Like I said before its something worth looking at, maybe the ELRC could be on a Friday away from play off meetings in Poland and not on a GP weekend.

I remember reading of one rider, forget who but think it was at Mildenhall, had a cat, dog & pig of a meeting mechanically and proceeded to bodily pick up his bike and launch it at a wall . He then loudly proclaimed to all in hearing range "don't anyone touch that flipping bike, it's blooming scrap!" . Or words to that effect. Presumably it was loaded up and taken back home (or maybe to a skip)....
robert72
Anyhow the ELRC will probably be won by an Aussie again as they always seem to be up for that title.
