Grand Central
RPNYC ... you are to be commended in your dogged belief in the geniune goodness in others. The total absense of any cynicism must be difficult to live with when faced with so many aspects of modern life. It must lead to so much disappointment when one finds that this faith in others is misplaced. RPNY
Thank you for the condescending response. I just happen to think that things aren't as black and white as others do. But seeing as you know all the facts for certain I won't make any further comment Edited October 30, 2016 by RPNYC
billywamill
To all those who are getting themselves all worked up that the FIM do not see their regulation in the way they do, get yourselves organised Register at crowdsurfer, ask for donations to fund your court case against the FIM and Hancock, and away you go. Before you know it Tai will be the new champ and those of us who foolishly don't accept your reading of the situation will be thanking you profusely. To get things moving you can even have the 87p I've found down the back of my sofa. I'll even throw in the two buttons and the dog biscuit buried there for the last couple of years. Alternatively, you can accept that Hancock is World Champion and move on.
Triple.H.
Thank you for the condescending response. I just happen to think that things aren't as black and white as others do. But seeing as you know all the facts for certain I won't make any further comment How do you know Munster Joe and Greg Hancock didn't have a conversation in the pits ? Unless of course you were there to witness them not speaking Or is it just hearsay. For my tuppence worth GH pulling out of the meeting affected the top 8 as some riders rode against reserves instead of him

foamfence
Had to laugh at this, Mick Poole's interview after the race. Video courtesy of Rigsby. Yes but there should have been a penalty, that would have wiped the smarmy look off his face. By the way, was he speaking English?
iris123
Yes but there should have been a penalty, that would have wiped the smarmy look off his face. By the way, was he speaking English? I personally have no problem with a rider tactically doing what is best for his team.I had no problem with (was it Nicki) doing the best for Denmark in the SWC by not getting Denmark far enough ahead so that their close rival could use a joker. That surelyis sport and winning is what it is about. But in an individual meeting by not doing your best you are corrupting the results not for yourself, but for or against one of the other riders. And that is just unfair on most of the other riders and importantly to the fans....

However neither does anyone know they did somehow conspire to gift holder points. With regards to the top 8, I agree.
Triple.H.
Another side note, although I agree Monster Joe should not be jumping around in the pits like a cheerleader, I think some here massively overestimate how much power/sway he has. It really isn't that great. And for those of you who think he and Greg had a pre race conversation about making the start then gifting Holder a point are very much mistaken.. But that's what you said
RPNY
Fair enough I should have said 'it's my belief you're mistaken' as Joe really doesn't have that much sway. Edited October 30, 2016 by RPNYC

Humphrey Appleby
Your jaundiced view of Speedway Star and self-proclaimed expertise on journalism is breathtaking. Seems a few people have a jaundiced view then. Not sure how you're qualified to judge my expertise as you gave up being a journalist long ago.

He scored the most points over the season. It's the underhand way he went about letting Holder through and then when got caught out by the powers to be. He had the audacity to pull out of the meeting stating he was not in the right frame of mind !! Did he not stop to think he was robbing the paying public of seeing the new World Champion in action? Of course not. He threw his toys out the pram. Easy solution. In the future don't cheat and please don't make silly statements ' my clutch was falling apart etc etc' The FIM may not take any further action, but his antics will tarnish his clean boy image for a long time to come.

New Yorker
Well no one can accuse me of having a life....I just read all 42 pages of this thread! As you already know speedway fans are a different sort and as a Yank and a huge fan of British "telly" I want to recommend a different kind of show to calm you guys down before next season. I'm sure most of you have heard of it and maybe even watched it but I absolutely love it....."The Dectorists" I've watched both seasons on Netflix twice and it seems to have a VERY calming effect! Even with Jason getting injured and out of the series and Greg being Greg we have seen some very exciting racing. Right out of the top drawer!!!(I do like those guys)I also thought the European Championship was a great series this year with a terrific mix of riders. Would love to see Milik in the series next year. Should have said MilIK in the GP next year.
billywamill
Well said New Yorker. The racing was brilliant this year and to be fair, Greg was involved in more than his fair share of brilliant races. Just because his passes are more controlled doesn't make them any easier to make. And you're right, The Dectorists is a beautifully observed programme. 😊

RPNY
(My fellow) New Yorker, you're right & that should be the most important part of this thread. Melbourne was a superb GP, concluding a superb series. No weak links in the 15 regulars next year, BRING IN ON!
