Edinburgh V Somerset 16th Sept

Can someone explain how Dan Bewley was going to ride in this meeting if he was fit? It's re-arranged AFTER the BV Colts meeting at Coventry and the BSPA had already decided earlier in the year that original NL meetings come ahead of re-arranged meetings.

Or did the BSPA get that wrong? Meaning Scunthorpe were right to appeal the guest for him?

You mean like August 26th, when Bewley rode in the re-arranged Edinburgh v Glasgow KOC fixture, ahead of a Belle Vue Colts v Kent fixture.

And not only that, but look at the NEG next to Mitchell Davey's name in the NL Green Sheets.

To be honest, it didn't make a lot of difference to Scunny's season. It might mean our finishing position is 11th rather than 10th, but that's immaterial. But as a point of principle, it does rankle that Edinburgh could get away with tracking a team outside of the rules, and were allowed to keep the points only on a technicality.

All the best

Rob

Ipswich have been told they can't use Davey as a no7 as doesn't qualify for that position...

He does qualify but someone at the BSPA is bending over backwards to make sure he can't. Pretty sure a rule was made up halfway through the season that only applies to him. Real shame for the guy as he's done nothing wrong.

Speedway has no credibility, 4 guests for Somerset. It's not fair on Edinburgh fans who would like to see the high flying League Leaders, only for a Somerset Select to turn up. Surely this fixture could have been re arranged.

The top team in the league visit with only 3 of the riders who got them into that position, that's Speedway nowadays,a shambles .

That's why I cant be bothered to attend anymore, just watch it on TV.

It's common practice for your GP to revoke your licence for concussion but the medic at the track usually grade his condition when the accident occurs and with him being kept in for 2 night observation must have been a pretty bad crash with the minimum time off the bike starting with 12 days for his age group but the doctor has to sign him off to ride if the doctor does not sign he can't ride it was Dan father that told me about his licence at Workington himself

In fact, this was an excellent meeting, a last-heat decider with some very good racing. Good entertainment for spectators who might be less-concerned with the make-up of the two teams and just enjoy watching the show.

Had to smile when it was announced that Peterborough had finally agreed to attend Armadale next Friday, too late for their hopes of making the play-offs.

No doubting about the quality of the meeting,so just run challenge fixtures every week against another 7 riders who can make it on the night .Its doesn't really matter according to you.!! Peterborough maybe had the right idea after all.Why bother with leagues and Cups.

I assume Ipswich are also there next Friday, seems a bit strange to have a double header, if Edinburgh lose they'll have plenty of spare dates to fit it in.

it would seem strange to leave the QF 2nd leg to the 30th but I suppose it may depend if the Monarchs are due to be missing anyone! wink
