therefused
After the information that the Stars will be announcing their first rider this week, each day is treated with optimism that this is the day. But true to previous it was always expected to be the last day of the week. So Friday is the day, but who will be the first named rider? Will they take the easy option and choose one that we all assume will be riding? or will they go for a rider who was questionable whether he stayed or goes.? .. I don't expect we will get the name of a major signing, they will want to keep that under wraps till the Supporters meeting, But it needs to be someone of high importance to show other teams our intentions, plus keeping the fans interested. My guess, and hoping, it will be Robert Lambert I reckon it will be Robert. I certainly hope it is.
Col
I'm sure Lambert will be signing for the Stars. He has been mentioned on this thread and dismissed but Mikkel Michelsen would be worth a punt on a starting average of 8.43 assuming he isn't riding in the Ekstraliga which I guess would rule him out. semion
Colin Pratt ? Lives locally, big mates with Buster. Just a shame that Mainman Rogers has thrown his lot in at Plymouth otherwise we could have gone with him and his magical calculator ! 😂
Haza
Hopefully not Dale Allitt. I agree Dale not the man for this job leave him with the young Stars but need someone who with more experience in my opinion and Dale isn't the man. Danny Connor
Here is my team for 2016 if it fits 1 Neils/Holder if neils opts out 2 Klindt 3 Lambert 4 Musielek/Milik 5 Cook 6 Huckenbek 7 2 point fodder (bailey/stokes/jpb/smith etc) 3 good heat leaders, 2 good 2nd strings and 1 good reserve! I don't expect to see this team however because I'm sure it will be far too expensive! team id expect to see 1 Holder 2 Porsing 3 Lambert 4 Rose 5 Batchelor 6 other lambert 7 huckenbek i think this team will have inconsistencies. I hope we don't opt for a team without at least 2 consistent heat leaders! 6-7.5 point riders (unconverted) are always inconsistent. look at previous seasons! Frustrating! Speedball
Well I'll disagree, think he is the right man for the job. Been in and around the club for years. Ran the Young Stars on a shoestring budget. Helped bring on the likes of Kerr, Rose & Bailey. Seemed to have done well at Peterborough as well. Plus let's face it, Buster and Rob know him better than any of us on here. Both as ex team managers should know whether he's up to the task. g13webb
As much as I wish everyone the best when doing a new job, the bombshell Buster has dropped is massive. Buster was everything to the smooth running of Kings Lynn Stars. He was the Owner, the Decision maker, the Finance Manager, he was the man who made all those decisions base on his ability and affordability of them. its all very well handing over the promotions to Rob Lyon but would that include all his financial responsibility that goes with it... or will Rob have to go to Buster everytime for a direct answer. After all most people don't want to deal with the Organ Grinder... Not only will they want straight answers but they also want confidence when dealing with big monies with people and businesses.. Rob Lyon may have been a successful Team Manager, but being a Promoter is and entirely different proposition. Like I say I wish him well I was pleased when Buster got the BSPA Chairman's job, thinking he was the man to take the sport forward....... But if I'd known it would have resulted in losing him at Lynn then I wish he hadn't been successful.... This has cost Lynn big time........ Bagpuss
Wow. Take a breath GRW. It's an extension of what Rob has been doing anyway, minus the team managing. Buster will still be around I'm sure and involved in decision making. Makes sense for somebody who knows the club inside out to run things for Buster. And it seems to be a direct attempt to right the wrongs of last season which can only be a good thing.

And do you honestly think the news was a massive bombshell? I felt it's been on the cards for most of last season! No way is Rob out of his depth, he'll be absolutely fine, I'd even go as far as saying he's probably been doing the job for a while in the background. As team manager .. I hope Dale and Olly Allen. Dale has been around it for years, has a good speedway brain, has many many contacts, and has respect. Olly would be superb with the mechanical side of things, as well as being calm and precise with things

Bunce
I agree with Blupanther, Olly Allen would be a good choice for team manager assuming his other training commitments at Poultec wouldn't prevent it, and assuming he would be interested in the position? He lives locally, is an ex Lynn rider, knows everybody in the sport and is an all round nice guy who I'm sure would motivate the team. He is also in the right age group, being not too young or long in the tooth! He knows the sport inside out and I'm sure would command respect with his vast experience. I'm sure Colin Pratt would make a good team manager, but I wonder if he really wants to trek all over the country every week at his age? Panthers89
Makes sense now as remember seeing tweets from Rory talking about Olly Allen being a skipper for next season, so must be Allen as team manager and Rory joining Lynn again
