DWP
I have always been a Porsing admirer thinking he could be a decent rider, but this year he seem to have gone backwards. He has one good meeting then 6 bad ones. Having looked at the recording a few times , Porsing worries me. He persistently messed up each gate, and was struggling from that point.. He appeared to have enough speed, but showed a reluctance to engage, as if he lacked confidence. He looks to have a few issues, be it the grippy track, or maybe its his machinery, probably lacking self-belief, coming back as he has, but something was not right... I've seen all his meetings at Lynn, and when he's on the ball, there is no finer sight round the AFA. Riding at Reserve should be a massive confidence boost for him where he should dominate races... But I need to see far more evidence than I did against the Rebels. Porsing's form fluctuates more than any other rider I've seen. One minute, he's faster than most and the next he's the slowest. We don't expect him to be a 9pts heat leader, but we expect more than 2 third places he got against Somerset. A regular 6/7 point haul would be just perfect...... And he's more than capable of doing that...... Just to put you in the picture. Nicklas rode terribly against Somerset. He looked ill, still suffering from concussion and numerous sleepless nights. If you noticed he wasn't in pits between races, but in changing room trying to get away from noise and throwing up. He didn't want to let Buster down so he rode, but shouldn't have in my opinion. He did Ok at Belle Vue paid 8 on what was a very slick track, made slippery by rain and sludge on the outside. He's still not sleeping well but will continue putting 100% effort in.

kelvinht
Surely if he is still suffering from concussion he shouldn't be riding for his and everyone's sake / safety?
lynnboy
Seemed to ride in Poland the day before the lynn meeting though 🤔 but that was in Poland so he would be on it
Trees
Can symptoms come and go, guessing so, never had concussion, plenty of migraines but not caused by that, doubt David would make that up....

Daniel Smith
He had his 8/9 days off as per the rules.... Come on Trees, we've had a rider bleeting about track safety. Why should they be listened to when they don't help themselves and ride with a condition dangerous to others? Can't have it both ways Edited August 16, 2017 by Danny Smith

Why should they be listened to when they don't help themselves and ride with a condition dangerous to others? Can't have it both ways[/quote Nicklas head was run over and hit by engine in Poland 30th July - he was on doctors orders not to ride for 7 days. His first meeting back was against Pila away which he scored paid14. He flew in early Monday and rode for Lynn Monday 7th v Somerset. Felt terrible all meeting escaping to changing room to get away from noise of bikes. Rye House was rained off, so had a few days resting before away to Belle Vue. Felt OK there scored paid 8. We drove to Wolves Monday, arriving at track as it was called off. He asked me to drive and told me he felt ill and had a thumping headache as I drove him from Wolves to Stansted to fly to Sweden Tuesday. In Sweden he said he didn't feel well but meeting was important for playoff spot. So he rode scoring paid 8 but again sat in changing rooms to get away from noise between his heats. After the meeting we spoke and he went to doctor who advised him to not ride and seek specialist treatment immediately. I called Buster last night to inform him that Nick was not well. Nicklas flew to Poland this morning and has an appointment with head specialist Friday. I'm not a doctor, but head trauma/ concussion can be very serious. He has told me he has not had a full nights sleep since 30th July. He says he has continual headaches, feels tired but can't sleep. We need to see what specialist says Friday, but he needs to get this sorted as I know he is just not his normal self at present.
foreverblue
I think it is appalling letting Porsing ride last night, he could have a serious head injury, irrelevant whether it is important for the play offs in Sweden he should not have ridden.

Normally we all just look at their scores and brand them "crap" from time to time with no appreciation of what they're going through! Thanks, DWP.

This is why speedway riders ( or any athletes) are the last people to decide if they are fit to ride after concussion. from your account it is obvious something was not right and understandably he wanted to ride but it was not the best idea for him or indeed anyone on the track with him. Years ago there wasn't even a mandatory rest period maybe a check up with a doctor after that period should also now be statutory. Nothing personal against Nickolas, as I said most athletes would have done the same but there are times when riders have to be saved from themselves. Lord Skid
Concussion is one knock to the head away from dying. It means there is no room in the skull for the brain to swell, the 7 day rule is rubbish, it can take weeks for the swelling in the brain to recede, the Rider should be checked regularly to see when they are fit. Unfortunately Riders are treated like a piece of meat, and this proves it.
stevebrum
There are several degrees of concussion so that's not a fair conclusion. Grade 1 is barely noticeable. The problem with the concussion rule is that every rider is treated with the same grading as a precaution.
Clive Ward
The double header v Wolves is going ahead next week with a 7.30 start should be a great night of speedway. Notice some people on Facebook are moaning about the possible £25 entrance fee they feel it should still be £17 for both meetings. Just proves you can't keep some people happy.

That's a good price, if I remember rightly the last double header Wolves had was £30, normal entrance fee would make no business sense at all
