Peterborough Panthers 2017

Recommended Posts

He signed as a second heatleader, he's now the weakest second string and one place of the reserve spot!

!

And to put it into prospective he is the highest average no 5 in the Championship.

Maybe not the rider he once was but he will still knock in the occasional match winning contribution and could play a big part in any success this year.

Well perhaps he should try Scunthorpe they are in need of a new NO;7 , we are quite happy with Tom Bacon's efforts with Panthers

That is fair enough I was just merely saying if you wanted to strengthen up then drop bacon for knight and lambert for a.ellis new avg?

Number 4.

He's always been inconsistent.

As an Eastbourne fan I watched on Facebook a video of Jake Knight at Birmingham the other day off 15 metres after two laps he passed Mattie Bates Darryl ritchings and made tom bacon look like he was standing still I wouldn't be surprised if bacon was dropped for Knight - quality rider on a 2pt avg

Peterborough host Berwick on Sunday and Jake Knight is guesting for the Bandits at #7 will let you know how I rate him.

Maybe his heatleader days are over but he may become a very useful second string this season.

Hmmm he was signed with the intention of fighting for the number 1 spot with Holder. Now we are hoping he's now a competent second string. He and Lambert are the reasons we are languishing down the bottom atm

Hard to disagree with 75% with that, I don't think we signed Ully to challenge for Number one mind, realistically Holder was always going to end the season as number one, with Hansen,Ully and Starke getting close and above the 7.00 mark.

Now that you have managed to squeeze Harris in through the cracks in the regulations - a proper number 1 for a flaky 2nd string - 000stergaard finds himself in the position that fits his current status.

That change has moved him from an under performing under pressure heat leader to a comfortably placed higher ranked 2nd string.

I do

And if one or both turn it around it will change very quickly.

There are no cracks in that particular regulation, Peterborough were simply astute enough to use it to its fullest extent.

As to the wider question of averages, points limits and conversion rates - that's a different kettle of fish entirely....

The crack is that Peterborough (and others) were allowed to use the mix of new and old averages when there was a mechanism within the regs to update all which wouldve resulted in the team total being a truer reflection of its strength.

One of the most fundamental elements of speedway regs is the aim to have equal strength teams through the points limit.

This has been undermined IMO.

The saddest and most frustrating part is that it was so obviously an issue that could have been dealt with in the winter when it was decided to reset the averages (along with conversion ratios etc)
