Why?

I think Proud Panther has answered that . We may have dropped a division but we now have a hands on promoter even though he lives 200 miles away and there seems to be a lot more harmony and willingness amongst supporters and supporters club members . Rick Frost saved the club from folding and will always be grateful for that but he never really familiarised himself with supporters like Ged Rathbone has done and got everybody pulling in the same direction. I can't imagine that ever happening had Mick Horton managed to carry on at the showground. I take my hat off to Ged he's doing a brilliant job and long may it continue.

He's a cracking bloke . Me and my mate Willie were sat in the beer garden at the Harvester in the afternoon before Glasgow's meeting at Peterborough in May . He must have been dropping something off there , but he saw the Glasgow jackets and came over and had a laugh and a joke with us . A bit different from some of the dour faced buggers running clubs these days .

Just as a thought do you prefer as a fan the Glasgow on a budget or the loads a money Glasgow of today

Makes no difference to me really . Obviously it's good having a nice modern stadium now and having the financial clout means we should be competitive season after season now . But your team is in your blood and even in the seasons we struggled , I followed them home and away and enjoyed myself most of the time . Obviously getting regularly battered at Edinburgh wasn't pleasant , but it never dulled my passion for supporting my team .

Did he? Was running a club on top of Readypower not a massive commitment for Rick and Julie? They probably didn't have the time (in fact did say as much) but put their money where their mouth is which somewhat unfortunately often disengaged them from the paying public and willing volunteers. I'd say that we were very fortunate to have them and it was a shame that they didn't employ someone like Rathbone to bridge the supporter, management gap. Although Swales was on the management team so what input did he have? We then probably wouldn't be having this discussion if Frost & Mahoney had the right people in post (both on and off track) but they got that bit wrong from the start. But we are where we are, too late now. I will agree that Rathbone has steadied the ship and continues to do a good job. Hopefully he'll also get the silverware his efforts deserve.

Think you have just answered your own query.

Yep had my fair share of long distance thrashings in the early days , but when the dizzy heights of watching the Crump, Iversen and Andersen days came to an end found it hard to readjust back again , to the point sadly that I lost interest especially when Crumpie went up the road to Lynn in 2000 but as you say you follow your club for life

Back in the eighties we used to buy bottles of pomain and rip newspapers into tiny pieces for away trips , for heat 8 when Steve Lawson was out as a taccy sub . Was a lot of time the only race winner we had . The thrashings never dulled the enthusiasm

And you had to edit that. It must have made sense first time round.

I didn't edit it, and it still makes sense, unlike your first post. Why ask WHY when you knew the answer anyway. Too much an EL(now Premier) snob to admit it.

Because even if I assumed that I knew the answer to some extent then it's good to get a confirmation, which never came BTW but some other mind readers jumped on the case to help you out. I don't know what an EL snob is tbh but I'm sure that you know the answer so I'll not ask. It's true that I did like the EL from 1999-2013 and the anticipation of that top level evening action (not always I grant you) show during that time. I no longer get that same buzz from Panthers or domestic speedway these days but it'll no doubt all continue at a sustainable level and bottom out at some future point. You're happy with whatever, I'll pick and choose and mourn for the good old days.

What was is called (Peru Peru)

No it was -

We were all conned by Ally's Army

We went to the Argentine

We thought we were a hit

But we made an arse of it

With the biggest load of crap you've ever seen
