IronScorpion
Just 24hrs before our Press & Practice when all our riders for 2017 will be unveiled as well as our new clubhouse. We know our riders well as all 7 are back from last year but what will be the riding order as, due to changes of their averages, riders will be moved about. My signature gives my riding order & that has been my view for a few months now so no insider information. As we are sticking with the same 7 riders from last year, & how we finished the year off, I would keep the pairings the same. Douglas, now at 1 should ride with Wilko at 2(in 2016 they rode together at 5 & 6) Auty will be at 3 with MPT at 4(in 2016 they rode together at 1 & 2) Kerr will be at 5 with Fritz at 6(in 2016 they rode together at 3 & 4) Bailey back at 7 If the pairings worked towards the end of last year then the saying "If it's not broken, don't change it" should apply. Hoping for a better 2017 than 2016 & all riders injury free.
Islander15
Auty rides well at number 5 usually, so I'd put him there and Kerr at 3 personally.
bez
I'd change the riding order for Home and Away meetings: Home Away 1 Ryan 1 Ryan 2 Wilko 2 Wilko 3 MPT 3 Josh A 4 Lewi 4 MPT 5 Josh A 5 Lewi 6 Fritz 6 Fritz 7 Josh B 7 Josh B
thebaron
I'd change the riding order for Home and Away meetings: Home Away 1 Ryan 1 Ryan 2 Wilko 2 Wilko 3 MPT 3 Josh A 4 Lewi 4 MPT 5 Josh A 5 Lewi 6 Fritz 6 Fritz 7 Josh B 7 Josh B Hi Ian Looks like a half decent forecast for tonight; so plan to get over for the P+P; so may see you there ? Would not disagree with the Home order. Can see the logic in Ryan being the No1; then we are showing some belief in him and that he can make the next step this season. Big Josh at 5. for me too; takes the "monkey off his back" of being No1. I think MPT will be a big scorer in this league this season and will surely get a Premiership ride as the season unfolds. Wonder if David Howe will be practicing this evening ? reading Robs enthusiasm for his comeback makes you think he's our 'go too rider' in the event of any hiccups. Wish the club legend well for his return; but really hoping we will not be needing to change anything. Speedways Back ! Paul Johnson
So it looks like.. Ryan 1 Wilko 2 Lewi 3 Tofty 4 Josh 5 Fritz 6 Lil Josh 7 I would prefer Bezs line up, swop tofty and lewi, think i would prefer lewi in heat 14 especially if it was a meeting winning ride

Albert
Good p&p lastnight.. New clubhouse is awesome, so much bigger and better than the old one... well done Rob, let's hope people take advantage of it...investment like that deserves to pay off. Greasy track but most riders took the advantage of a little spin, one exception being young Josh Bailey whom isn't quite ready... I believe he's just had some metalwork removed and is looking at possibly next week before any practice (?). Fingers crossed he'll be ready for the seasons opener. sharpandroid
Oh dear, another home defeat, just not good enough apart from Lewis Kerr, didn't like seeing Auty passed by Starke round the outside. Rob Godfrey has said it before about how the track is prepared for the scorpions to ride round the outside and they ride the inside line as the away team go round them, i know it takes big balls to ride these bikes and i certainly couldn't do it but it is what they are employed for. Hope things improve next Sunday or I'll be going to Redcar instead.
thebaron
Right; I missed yesterday so I am taking reports of us being outdone at our own game on a 'daytime track'; when our boys want a 'dusk time track'?. Can we try and get this imaginary barrier out of our heads ?; it is the same for both teams and we have to get to grips with it and find a way. The riders do not need you or I to point this out; they are professional; and know best what it takes on all types of race tracks. Not blaming Fritz who clearly was having a right old go at it; but coming off in three heats has been costly and with Josh Bailey feeling his way in 2pts from the reserves has made the difference here. We have to maybe reign Fritz in a tad; as he just goes for it from tapes up; when there's still four laps to make his move. But that's in him; he's a racer and you don't want to drum that out of him. I understand that the crowd was decent yesterday; certainly we do not want folk like the last poster; saying they'll be going to Redcar?. Come on fella give the lads a break it is one meeting we have a whole season ahead of us. This team demonstrated its potential for a third of last season; we have not just thrown this team together. Certainly Rob and the managements belief in the riders is not unfounded and it must not disappear overnight we need to give things time to settle down. Ryan is on new machinery and has his own injury to overcome; and Josh Auty has been open about the need for this to be a year where he finds better consistency. As I say Edinburgh and Workington away; interjected by Glasgow at home next Sunday will again be tough meetings. Honestly I can not see us winning either away?. That's not being defeatist that's being realistic; but we should go to both and try to keep in the meeting and try and restrict it to a six point margin where we collect a point. Then set about restoring confidence with a home win against Glasgow; no worries if its a last heat decider just win the meeting. This league is really competitive this season; so we are going to have to get used to it. Lets stick together; believe in what we are doing and back the team; they do better when they know we that we remain behind them. screm
Nothing empties a stadium quicker than a few home defeats at the start of a season, the Scunthorpe promotion must be hoping their riders find the form to start winning, at home at least.

IronScorpion
Nothing empties a stadium quicker than a few home defeats at the start of a season, the Scunthorpe promotion must be hoping their riders find the form to start winning, at home at least. Which is why they should have been out more pre season practicing. Having said that, I have seen practice & amateur meetings at Scunthorpe & it never resembles a race track at a league meeting, just a blue groove with no body riding in the dirt so getting set ups will be different. I would think other tracks are the same. A missed opportunity was the fact none of our riders participated in the Ben Fund meeting. It is a meeting that is not invitational but you put your name forward to the organiser. One week before we had our league meeting!!!!!! Ouch!! Even D Howe has put himself about ,having had 3 meetings to put himself in the window for a spot now he has got his enthusiasm & fitness back. "Failure To Prepare, Prepare To Fail" are words that I have posted earlier & I honestly thought, probably Rob too, that we should have had at least 6 points in the bag already. Having the same 7 riders should have made on track race pairings familiar but this is an area they did not adapt similar to the end of 2016. I said having Auty at 5 & Fritz at 6 was an accident waiting to happen(heat 7 on Sunday) & as he raced in the no5 spot last year, racking up some big points, subsequently, moving back to no1, which I don't feel is his ideal spot. Having Kerr at 5, in my opinion, would be better, & if he scored big points I think he could be a no1 as his average, pre accident, showed that he could be an 8pt rider. Paul Johnson
STING! RAFFLE TO RETURN – BIGGER, BRIGHTER AND MORE BEAUTIFUL! THE STING! Riders Fund 50/50 is set to return this Sunday… but with a difference. Instead of using the former programme booth, which is soon to be a food outlet, the sellers will come around the trackside, accompanied by the riders’ glamorous partners, family and friends. We believe the new approach will swell the coffers of the fund, and prize limit, as well as gaining support. It should also bring the supporters and riders closer together. Winning numbers will be announced on the centre green, with results also announced on the website, official Twitter feed and on a new STING! Facebook page. The winner will pick up their winnings after Heat 14, and will pick and present a trophy to the rider of the night. STING! Fund Chairman Paul Duff also has this message: “We are also pleased to announce that we have booked the new bar / entertainment facility for the annual end-of-season presentation night on Saturday, October 21 and will issue full details later in the season.” Edited April 7, 2017 by neck brace tony

sharpandroid
When are the averages taken into account to decide who rides at number 1, Lewis Kerr is obviously our best rider and the sooner he rides at 1 the better, i hope Matt Williamson has a good meeting for us on Sunday. Why does Josh Auty ride at 5? Will the EWR be empty by May? Why can away riders ride the track better than home riders? How does having a lerger bar help the team? Why do the mics sound like that? Is Andreas Lyager still in the picture? Edited April 8, 2017 by sharpandroid
proud panther
The larger bar will help the fans the way Scunny are going, because they will need a few drinks to witness getting beat most weeks. Wallner was an accident waiting to happen, must have fallen in half his races this season. Still a shame for him, but hope he calms down a bit when he comes back, because he is a danger to other riders.
