Ace no.5
Zagar was third when he had an ef. Holder 4th. To think we were so close to winning this tonight. If that ef hadn't happened we would have won by a point. Considering three of our team struggled big time I can only assume they would get better on their next visit, if there is one. Steve, you keep banging on about how had Kurtz not had an EF in heat 14 you would have won this meeting and consequently the #1 spot in the league. As others have mentioned you conveniently forget all other aspects of the meeting, most especially the Zagar EF in heat 13. You keep claiming that Holder would have 100% definitely passed him bla bla bla. I just have one question for you if you would be so kind to answer. In the one race that these 2 were paired together in the evening that they both completed, who won? (Clue: it was heat 1)...

foamfence
What about Zagar should have been excluded for for knocking his dirt deflector off in heat 7 Wouldn't have made much difference.
Ace no.5
Someone pointed out the correct rules which would NOT have resulted in an exclusion. Unlike Newman not wearing goggles in the playoff final last year eh? Those in glass houses...

What is the rule then? a dirt deflector has to be on for the whole race doesn't it?
Aces51
Poole lost, get over it. No point in keep going on about the what ifs. They pretty much cancel each other out anyway. What is the rule then? a dirt deflector has to be on for the whole race doesn't it? The rule was quoted and apparently it doesn't.

gimli27
As Aces 51 says we lost if is the biggest word in the english language to win the playoffs we have to beat 2 of the other teams anyway so just being top doesnt guarantee anything being easy
SteveLyric2
Most points scored and least conceded over the league season - notwithstanding what happens in any of the remaining fixtures. Not too bad for Runners-up is it?!
stevebrum
What is the rule then? a dirt deflector has to be on for the whole race doesn't it? Bizarrely no it doesn't! They have to have it fitted to start with.

That had all gone before and it was down to the last two heats. Poole were on a 5-1 in heat 14 which would have put us three behind going into heat 15. We got the 5-1 in heat 15 so the ef in heat 14 cost us the win and finishing top. It doesn't matter what happened ealier in the meeting. These are the facts. chris4gillian
Ha,ha,ha!! This thread is mostly the same old pony being posted by the same old posters who never disappoint. I personally really enjoyed the meting and thought the track was superb. I'm quite jealous of the BV supporters getting to watch speedway of that quality week in and week out. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying our track at Poole is bad, it's just that BV's new track is without doubt the best track in the country. Period. As for Pearson & Tatum...love them or loathe them they certainly keep things lively which is what a fast and exciting sport like speedway needs. Tatum also seems to have become a bit of a comedy man with some of his retorts to Pearson. That's definitely a step in the right direction. Just one last point to Shovlar - I find your post about Clare Balding rather offensive and I'm surprised nobody else has commented on it. She may not be gorgeous she may not be skinny and her sexual preference is her own business! Unnecessary and rather nasty.

That's sport. Tough. You don't know what would have happened had Kurtz not had an EF. He may have hit the fence ala Zagar to allow one of the BV boys through. We will never know. damosuzuki
... of course you can finish without a dirt deflector, with a puncture, even with a blown up engine as we've seen plenty of times in the past. Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be a @@@@gate of some sort in the playoffs.

Zagar lost a point hitting the fence and then an engine failure when Belle Vue looked likely to get a 5-1 made it that you still had a chance come heat 14. To look at one incident and no others shows you up totally as a blinkered fan.
