SUPERACE
Track was like Kings Lynn back in the day. At the time Kurtz engine failure cost us a 5-1 and the meeting. Zagar may have been last in heat 13 anyway we will never know but Kurtz was out in front at the time of his failure. If zagar didnt ef holder would not have got past cook imo. LisaColette
Exactly you must pick the team you think you can beat in the semi finals. Surely they would pick Swindon its a no brainer isnt it? Then if they get Wolves in the final i would imagine a monster crowd to see the 2 time World Champion. Fans drop away everywhere if the team struggles thats inevitable n yes it happened to Poole in 2009. Really? Swindon have won at BV, Wolves and Poole haven't. Be interesting to see all the agg scores between BV and the other playoff teams in the B meetings. Poole would have won by 8..

Swindon won there as Tungate got 17 from reserve and Fricke was missing plus it was Belle Vues first home meeting. Wolves lost by 2 there but had no Woffinden but Klindt. As i said for me its a no brainer to choose Swindon, Belle Vue having been 6 up there with 3 heats to go before it was called off Edited September 13, 2016 by Gavan
SUPERACE
Poole have been very lucky with guests in the Aces v poole b fixtures home and away. I think two full teams would have seen belle vue win on aggregate score. KK max at poole was better than Hans would of done and tungate doubled hans score at belle vue, while paddy was about 4 points short of fricke. paulboy
Robbie Savage in Wales vs England match? Good point in fact most of the BBC football co-commentators were pretty dire. And Jonathan Pearce could almost be Pearson's brother! Indeed. A fair few of us hold this opinion. Many people on here say they tolerate him, but that's different to liking. Other than a few like Philp Rising who keeps telling us Sky think the shines out his arse, I have not really read of many people admitting they really like his commentary. I have always been a tolerator, but last night I had to actually turn the sound down! I don't question his knowledge, he's just not very good at commentating without sounding like he's about to have a very messy accident! Tatum somtimes calms him down but more often then not they are both yelling at the screen together. Yes I know it's a difficult job, like to see me try etc etc etc and I couldn't really think of a viable alternative unless a non-speedway person was brought in. Gavan
Not got a problem with Pearson and Tatum could b 2 boring monotone people instead but your never going to please all of the people. Its just the odd over reaction they need to tone down like when Newman went between 2 Belle Vue riders , it was obvious he wasnt or couldnt make it stick so why the over reaction
BWitcher
Phew! Get out of jail free card used there. If it was any other team I think we'd have lost after an off night like that. Bad day at the office, it happens. Sure enough Tungate proved an exceptional guest and coupled with Zagars testing nightmare it saw a 18-20 point swing to give a rather non representative score line against poor travellers Poole - Holder apart, what a masterclass and terrific to watch. Great racing again with Joe's rider being the standout. It only serves to remind us though that that won't happen if we ride down a Wimbourne Rd during the play offs. Gate and go just doesn't suit us but it's my opinion that it doesn't suit most fans. Chuffed we finished top of the league, especially in out first year at the very special NSS, a sign of things to come? Oh, on the crowd, it was around 1500 which is the highest attendance for a Sky match this year where standard pricing has been stuck to. Can't have been 1500? Advanced sales are a fraction of walk ups which make up at least 75% of the crowd I'm told. There were around 700 advanced sales so the crowd must have obvuiusly been 2,800. In fact if starman is right about 95% walk ups the crowd was at least 14,000! To be fair it didn't look that many on the telly? The first sign of madness. Its just the odd over reaction they need to tone down like when Newman went between 2 Belle Vue riders , it was obvious he wasnt or couldnt make it stick so why the over reaction I think sometimes, possibly like the Newman 'pass', it's down to the angle they are seeing it from that gives the impression something exciting is happening. At whichever track they are at it seems to be the exit of bend 2 on to the back straight and the entry into the 3rd bend which throw up the most shouting episodes, I must admit to being caught out myself on plenty of occasions. On Saturday in Teterow they were perched above the startline and it was a pleasure to hear them drowned out by the bikes at the start of each lap, the whole meeting was much easier on the ear due to their location. Maybe the sound engineers turned them down because the sound of the bikes was interfering with their microphones, it was definitely better than other meetings imo. I'm also stumped in terms of suggesting any potential replacements, at least Pearson does involve himself with the sport and Tatum does have the knowledge to impart when required. They are much too Smashy & Nicey for me but I can't see them being shifted, Darren Fletcher has been suggested before but he's probably too big time for dirt racing now. Speedway is a fast exciting sport with races condensed over a very short time frame. Their commentary style suits the sport 100% and those who seem to think they should be commentating like a snooker commentator clearly want the sport to simply shrivel up and die.

Pearson does dart too & he's no good at that either. On the whole Sky's commentators across all sports are pretty good, which makes the speedway more disappointing. If you think you need to shout to make a decent speedway commentator then good for you. I haven't seen anybody suggesting snooker style commentary!
hyabb17
A quick response, Swindon riders hadn't seen the track, most the BV riders had tested at least. We were without Doyle & still won. Yes Tungate scored 17 from reserve but also scored 12 yesterday from the number 3 position. Swindon won there as Tungate got 17 from reserve and Fricke was missing plus it was Belle Vues first home meeting. Wolves lost by 2 there but had no Woffinden but Klindt. speedwaysliders
Craig Cook is clearly in the Auty camp when asked about Tungate chasing him !! "When you are a 4.5 midget weighing next to nothing what do you expect!! Anyone know why Bridger made the long trip to Belle vue? As for pearson and Tatum,if they could actually tone it done just a bit,so the smoke didnt come out of my tv speakers it would help!!! I actually went into my garden after the match to try and recreate the decibels of Pearsons voice,i just couldnt do it!!.Seriously people on this forum go and try shouting exact words from a pearson sentance,it just impossible without embarassing yourself with the neighbours ,or just getting a sore throat!!.how does he do it and carry on the next day?!! Buttons
Not an easy job calling Speedway, but it's Pearsons shouting that gets me , and the incessant screaming, turned the sound right down last night
silverfox
Nigel and Kelvin are committed to the sport they are commentating on they get over excited at times but that is OK by me very true if you had to listen to the commentaries in the sixties and seventies that hadn't a clue what they were talking about you would appreciate what we have got now.
Mr Bump
Not an easy job calling Speedway, but it's Pearsons shouting that gets me , and the incessant screaming, turned the sound right down last night I agree. But I do like the enthusiasm they have. It's needed. Perhaps just not 100% of the time though. Dave Lanning back in the day was a good speedway commentator. Darts too. SteveLyric2
Much better commentary than they get on Eurosport from 'straightaway' Sam!! Incidentally some good action and great comments from heat 13 on BBC South Sport this evening!!
Col
Fabulous meeting just watched. I can't guess who is coming first out of a bend and who is coming last out of a bend if all riders are fast enough on that track. Zagar & Nicholls need to perform better if the Aces are to win the title.
