Reviresco
Well done Somerset and in particular to Rohan and BWD, both seen as gambles by some at the beginning of the season, looking anything but now. Just shows what taking a gamble sometimes results in and also what changing your logo can do for a club - though I noticed at Rye House that the big Rebels flag is still being flown
SomersetBlue
The bigger problem is that at the cut-off date (which I think is the 19th September) I suspect that not one team will have actually completed their league fixtures. Therefore you cannot call Somerset as league champions for being top of the league when it hasn't finished. So there Apart from the fact that no other team could catch us anyway. I think it would be fair that the winner of the season should get something otherwise it is a tad unfair if they lose, seeing as it is a Premier League and not a Premier play- offs. Paulco
We'll no doubt be having the same argument come the end of October when Glasgow beat Edinburgh in the play off final to be crowned champions . All the Rebels will be crying into their scrumpy about how unfair it all is and we'll be getting blootered on specialy fermented Buckfast as befits the occasion Have Somerset not suffered last heat decider heartbreak in play off finals twice before ? No wonder they are twitchy Edited September 7, 2016 by Paulco
TheScotsman
Or we will be having a Royal Champagne celebration on the "East Coast"? 😉😉

acclennell
Newcastle? Their away form may trip them up - they've very much dependent on stuffing everyone at home. I'd say Somerset are firm favourites to win the championship. All the best Rob Newcastle's away form is good and they have not failed to get below 40 points in any match apart from your team's track which for some reason we just can't ride and also we did have our two top riders missing - so imho your opinion maybe a bit biased on what you have seen. Also if we are stuffing everyone at home then surely that makes us favourites as the whole point is to get an aggregate win over 2 legs.

You only got 40 points at the EWR with your top two. But yeah, it's something of a bogey track for the Diamonds. Still don't fancy you across two legs against Somerset. All the best Rob Seeing as you have a soft spot for them Gazc, although he was trying to hide them, I couldn't help but notice the Scotman's Peterborough Panthers socks when I saw him at Ipswich. orion
You only have to look at Bristol Rugby winning the league for so many years, then losing the play offs and missing out on promotion...what a joke that was. Not a joke at all ...the play offs kept the season alive and kept the crowd numbers up as well having the big crowds in the semi final and final as well keeping clubs alive ...yet again another fan who thinks sporting clubs can run on fresh air

We have also quite comfortably beaten Somerset over the 2 meetings on aggregate scores already least you forget. Still think you're biased based on Newcastle due to the meetings at Scunthorpe. The 2 teams I'm more nervous about are Glasgow and Edinburgh to be honest as they have riders who ride Newcastle very well consistently and I'd rather face Somerset over 2 legs than those 2. Time will tell though. Edited September 7, 2016 by acclennell

All the best Rob Of course it is a bogey track as you always flood the bloody track unto 11/2 hours before the meeting with us. The riders do notice and do talk about it. Even with your crazy rubbishing/fixing of the track you still get turned over big style on our constant racing circuit which gets good praise normally, especially when we have the access probs that nobody else seems to have. Refs reports suggest we are decent.

Tsunami, yep Newcastle, in turn, is Scunny's bogey track, because we struggle around a wrongly shaped track, with turns which are too tight in comparison to the length of the straights. As for watering the track during a daytime meeting, Scunny do this well. I've been to daytime meetings at e.g. Rye House, where I've struggled to see the other side of the stadium by the end of the meeting. On the other hand, Scunny only tends to have a bit of dust right towards the end of a double-header. An example is how good the track was for the recent MDLRC, which followed the Scunny v Newcastle meeting. All the best Rob

Think both Edinburgh and Glasgow would have hoped Newcastle could dispose of Somerset in the semi final, now there's a fair chance only one of them will benefit if Newcastle get Somerset in the semi, and I can't see Gary May picking a tie with Newcastle given a choice.
