Berwick V Somerset (7.30pm) Monday September 5th

Recommended Posts

I find it very strange that only the 2 Bandits stopped for that red light which I would guess was a red eye limiter on a camera flash as for the fireworks its against the law to set them off in a public place without the permission of the landowner and you can be given a fixed pen of £90 but also if it goes to court the max is £5000 fine

Decent meeting track rode well,Bandits deserved something out meeting.Though the ref got it wrong in ht 11.when 2 riders pull up within 10metres looking at each other it obvious something was not right.

Certainly a strange one as Perry and Jorgensen clearly saw something that the two Somerset riders didn't, Not sure how the referee could stop the race as on track there was nothing wrong, it was a satisfactory start, no jumping, no tape touching and nobody came down in the first bend, very unlucky on the Berwick riders though.

Credit to Berwick for holding the PL table toppers, as has been mentioned Liam Carr is in good form right now, and again produced the goods last night. Another low crowd though racing on an off night, a working night and with the schools due to go back that will have all worked against the club, hopefully the people will come out for the last meeting of the season this Saturday against Rye House, maybe the club will go down the huge announcement coming route to get a few more out.

As a visiting Diamonds fan, I have to say how very enjoyable the Somerset match was. Some excellent racing with riders from both teams getting their back wheels right up against the fence on a very fast racing line. Very impressed with Liam Carr and I hope he can maintain progress to become a star of the future.

Very sorry to hear of the demise of the Bandits, and if the way yesterday evening's meeting was run (great example of how to run a meeting properly) is typical of Berwick then I would think the future of Berwick speedway will be safe. The pre match parade started 10 minutes before the 7.30 racing start, the heats progressed smoothly and the tractor work in between heats was very professional. A great advert for speedway.

I was less enthusiastic about the very provocative comments of the announcer following the distraction in heat 11 caused by one idiot in the crowd. His comments in my view were tantamount to Inciting retribution.Clearly this type of reaction has no place in a professional sport (any sport for that matter) no matter how much frustration there may be. This was uncalled for and the matter should have been dealt with by the stadium's own security staff. Pity because he appears to be a well informed announcer despite his slight faux pas with Josh G on the introductions which he quickly apologised for.

But hey ho, excellent meeting and will certainly be back in 2017.

Great to hear you enjoyed your night.

"Demise of the Bandits", not so fast, I am hopeful a buyer will be found and Berwick will come to the tapes next season and for quite a few more.

Fully agree with you on the comments from the centre green following the Ht11 red light, not called for, nor necessary, no matter how frustrating it was to see the Berwick riders stop.

100% agree with the fact that Dick Barrie's comments were over the top in fact it could be said that he was inciting violence which is agaist the law and could have got him arrested. All it takes is someone in the crowd to make a complaint to the police.

Think it should have been please put brain in gear before mouth in motion

I don't think the fireworks were kids as I would estimate the cost of that box would be about £50 but whoever it was they were breaking the law setting them off.

would be very surprised if the culprits had bought them rather than, ahem, "acquired" them from somewhere

Rasmus Jensen

@Rasser_Racing

Heat 1-8 =FTG

Sent from Berwick-upon-Tweed

He's at it again, I wonder why he comes to then just moan on twitter about the place, obviously had his head up his arse during heat 2 where Perry passed both Somerset riders and in heat 7 where Jorgensen fantastically passed Wright off the 4th bend.

I can add that Josh Grajczonek replied with that's all you gotta do at Berwick with Rasmus saying I know, I didnmt think there would be a rider that moans more about our track than Cookie but Rasmus Jensen takes the bourbon

Strange summing that there was nothing wrong ,when you say clearly Berwick riders saw something that other didn't and obviously the person with the camera caused a bit of confusion!!! on track 2 riders stopped after 10 mtrs ,that's what was wrong. Edited by Fromafar

I find the Heat 11 "Red Light" incident quite strange. How is it the two Berwick boys saw it but Rebels pair didn't, what were the gate positions for that heat please ? Surely if it was a camera all four should have seen it as it obviously went off as soon as the tapes went up, otherwise the riders would have had their eyes firmly fixed on the magnet or tapes if on inner berths before that instant ! The Berwick boys must have been separated at the gate by a Rebel so how is it he didn't see the light ? It would be interesting to hear what the Rebel pair had to say about the incident. The tracks are, unfortunately going to have to ban cameras altogether soon before somebody is injured or worse !

Admit it was strange one,but it was also clear that something untoward happened, history now though.A draw was a fair result though.

Draw was probably a fair result to be fair there was some decent racing last night. Not a great crowd but have to allow for people on shift work etc not being able to make it on a Monday. Another superb performance from Liam Carr from the reserve berth once again.

Fair to say Mr Jensen isn't the biggest fan of the Berwick track and giving his most recent performance at Berwick I don't think we need to listen to his opinion all that much.

Check out Workingtons meetings on Speedway Updates. Fair few "from the gate" races there too.

To be honest you don`t need to be all that knowledgeable to know the comments from the centre green last night were un-called for, wrong and very silly. If there is to be a take over then I hope things are renewed and refreshed both on track and off, meeting presentation would be included in that I hope.
