foreverblue
Can't say I'm that surprised about the result. Having secured our cup qualification on Monday this was always going to be one of those qualifiers that simply don't matter. Sky don't even bother bother to show these top of the table meetings after the infamous 'just testing set-ups' comment from Leigh Adams. I dont agree with it to be honest but it was pretty blatant with Fricke 0003 for example, we didn't even bother to switch reserves to try and make it closer! When you add in Poole's massive home advantage, statistically the biggest in the league, and a maximum from the guest and this wasn't actually a bad result. In fact it looks like poole weren't trying that hard either with one of their lowest home scores of the season! Surely they wouldn't need to test set-ups at home? Fricke was just feeling guilty for his Leicester performance big crowd for the top of the table clash and Sky rarely turn up on a thursday. orion
Sky don't even bother bother to show these top of the table meetings Such a shame as I was looking forward Belle Vue v Poole that was due to be on sky ....when did they decide not to show it . stevebrum
Tbf, Poole had kk who is clearly one of the top riders in the league (did someone seriously try to argue Lindgren was as good?!?). Anybody would have to be crazy to suggest Lindgren is having a poor year! KK is 8.04 Lindgren 7.92.

Col
As of tonight, Bjarne is 3rd in Pooles rolling averages while Kurtz is 6th. So Kurtz drops to reserve, Buzz drops to second string and Bjarne goes to heat leader. But before they get new averages Poole have to go to Wolves on Monday, are at home to Wolves on Wednesday and at BV the following week. Averages after that meeting will determine who of Bjarne, Buzz, Ellis and Kurtz will be heat leader or reserve, they're all so close that frankly they could end up in any order after the next 3 meetings. Newman is pretty certain to stay in reserve while Holder and Hans will be heat leaders. The new averages then come into effect on the 19th September. Unless Lindgren is useless I cannot see Poole winning at Monmore, do the Wolves have Masters back? Kurtz, Buzz won't like tight turns surely? Andersen (if fit) & the BYawnster can get around Monmore belligerently if they gate, but I can't see them holding off Woffinden, Lindgren & a PK if he is capable of any kind of speed. Wolves reserves, Howarth especially need to match Newman. Edited September 2, 2016 by Col
Gavan
Oh dear, a few sour posts here. Anybody seen Gavan, or is he on holiday... you apparently don't know if I've posted as you have blocked me yet when you win you immediately use my name!!! I predicted a Poole win even stating what the riders would score and pretty much got it spot on. Thank you for your concern Really? Care to quote anyone being sour? Gavan picked poole to win by ten, and posted straight after the meeting?thank you just seems some people don't think before they post
g13webb
It is so obvious the guest of KK made Poole far stronger. No way would HA performed as well. Whether the difference would have altered the win we'll never know. But if Hans rides this weekend in the challenge, will that forfeit Poole from using a facility for him in the meetings next week ?

Phil The Ace
Despite the 1 line bumpy track it was a very good meeting. I kinda enjoyed it but also had to close my eyes at times thinking riders will be riding over us if they came any wider. 3 times(Richie,Cook and fricke) nearly lost it cos they were riding so wide. Difference was KK and the reserves. Hams wouldn't have got a paid max so that gives me a little confident if you take 5 points off KK rides and add them to our rides. Would have been much closer. But we are going to need our reserves to step up away from home. Another poor showing from our reserves. People will moan at zagar only getting 6 but he rode his heart out for them 6 points ts and he was unlucky enough to face KK on that form 3 times. For a guest KK was exceptional. One of the best individual performances of the season. So fair play to poole management for picking the right guest and fair play to KK for giving his all as a guest a fee days before the GP challenge. You could clearly see his heart lies at poole Edited September 2, 2016 by Phil The Ace
Bleeds Pirate Blue
KK is currently peerless around Wimborne Road. There isn't a currently a rider in the world I'd pick to beat him round there in a match race. Gating is irrelevant for him too as he just seems to blow by anyone. For some mad reason Ladbrokes were offering KK over 9pts at EVS last night so I filled my boots! You'd have to think he's eyeing up a return to Poole next season... Bjarne did look surprisingly quick last night which is promising for the playoffs, but we really need Buzz to step it up a gear. He's been very inconsistent for a good six weeks now. Last night was a case in point, as his sole win was arguably the best ride of the night to hold off Zagar? and Cook? who were both riding different lines and attacking him at once. I still don't get the negativity about Kurtz's performances. I've been pretty pleased with his development in his first year in the top flight. Yes he didn't score well last night but he has clearly got a fast setup and good line at home now, he just got caught out going too wide after gating in one heat (the great ride by Buzz) and fell off in another when he had made his mind up on his line heading into bends 1&2, and the Belle Vue rider in front ran across his intended line and forced him to go wider than he wanted - he was carrying too much speed was he wanted to blast round the boards, and drifted too far wide and laid it down. He'd already be on my 2017 teamsheet, along with Ellis and KK. Throughly enjoyed the meeting last night and bearing in mind how good the Belle Vue v Poole leg looked on TV in the highlights package, I'm really hoping that British Speedway gets these two teams in the televised final, as we'll be in for a couple of crackers. I agree with the team sheet for next year. 1.KK 2 J.Holder 4.B.Kurtz and 6.Ellis. Perhaps we could get magic and V.Milik in there. KK is just proving to Matt that he wants to ride for Poole. What is the bet that KK get rubbish scores for Cov so that his average drops for next season.

To be honest we need a league in which all teams can compete and race, and a Poole team with KK and Magic would be on of the league's strongest IMO based on the turnout of the sport's top riders in British speedway. I'd rather see more meetings like last night, and by that I mean close, competitive racing. If that means no GP riders, so be it. Riders like Kurtz, Ellis, Newman, Stevie Worrall, Charlie Wright etc... have turned in some of the most enjoyable racing I've seen all year. I'd happily pay to see those guys duke it out every week and not miss the likes of Doyley, Zagar, AJ and Iversen, despite the fact they are all superb riders. foreverblue
Feeling guilty? The irr score at Leicester and the guest score last night when added together were nearly 25% more than Andersen scored in the corresponding a fixtures! In fact the guest score last night was well over 50% more! When sky show meetings they move them to suit themselves. I'm surprised you've forgotten how they dicked around with the Belle Vue v Poole meeting early in the season? They messed it up so much it still hasn't been ridden, but at least they are sticking to their commitment to show it. Exactly, what should have been a crucial fixture and it wasn't even due to be on sky! Just imagine the furore if top v 3rd in the fa pl wasn't shown, especially when there's only a few points between the top three in another exciting finish to the season. As we've seen for the last few weeks, these otherwise top meetings just don't cut it when there's nothing to race for. Still, the cup final should be good, and if Belle Vue race the world champion in the semi that will be good as well. At least there's still something to look forward to after these meaningless qualifiers have been done with. There not meaningless if your Lakeside or Swindon! should be a good meeting at Lakeside when Swindon visit and a play off place is on the line, a meeting that hardly anyone would bother with if it wasn't for the amazing play offs. foreverblue
everyone knows that the mediocre mid table meetings become a bit more meaningful due to the cup, should be a massive crowd for that one, but what has that got to with the top sides? Besides, have you not read some of the resigned comments suggesting that they will just be making up the numbers? Come on folks, it's the magic of the cup, even poor teams can drop lucky on the day and grab a win, get into the spirit of it and get off your arses and support your teams show everyone that i'm right about these mediocre mid table meetings attracting massive crowds thanks to the cup! Are you on one of your slow days? This is the a meeting, they agreed to show this in April. In the circumstances they probably did consider pulling it as you suggest though. Just replying to your meaningless qualifiers comment which involves all teams hoping to make it to the all important play offs. Lakeside fans always think they are just making up the numbers but they have a massive home track advantage so anything is still possible. Belle Vue will top the table now so the Belle Vue meeting on the 12th is meaningless and would have been meaningless with or without the play offs but good practice for Poole.
