Gemini
I'm tending to agree with that, even though it would probably mean James Sarjeant would be going off 15m in half of his races . Steve is right though ~ Poole could have used Pedersen as a reserve replacement anyway in this case so no ulterior motive here.

They stuck with the programmed rider and then gained an advantage by bringing in a better rider from the gate. No problem with bringing in another rider but he should be made to start from 15 meters. Alternatively the original rider should be allowed to remain but to start from 15 meters otherwise the offending team is not punished.
Gavan
I think people are missing the point: Yes Poole could have brought in Pedersen as a reserve replacement So im in no doubt kyle didnt touch the tapes deliberatly However the point remains that a tape touch should put the team of the rider that did that at a disadvantage. Poole were arguably stronger in the re run so therefore the exclusion didnt in anyway penalise Poole. Before the usual outcry , Poole did nothing wrong, but this is a rule that needs looking at. Either Newman should have gone from 15 metres (as he would have had to in heats 2 or 12) or if they feel the other reserve is going better then bring him in but off of 15 metres as well.

There is no outcry from me totally agree, the rule is wrong, all teams have benefited in the past, whether your other reserve is stronger or not shouldn't matter, the rule needs changing, also you could have Kurtz touching the tapes and bring Bjarne in, no penalty. In my opinion any rider who touches the tapes should go off 15 metres, no reserve replacement, just go off 15 metres.

It made it a bit like a "first serve" in tennis..... Howarth, set himself up at the start of that race, knowing he could "push" the anticipating the start to its limit, knowing if he got it right, he would gain a significant advantage to the first corner, if he "Ballsed" it up by touching the tapes, or made an obvious "jump" start, he would be excluded, and for the "2nd" serve, they bring in Pedersen!! Who could also then have "2" serves, at the tapes!!! DEFINATLY NEEDS CHANGING FOR 2017.
