Shale Searcher
Well, at the moment the weather forecast is ok for the Leicester area, mostly dry, temps up around 20c/21c partly sunny/partly cloudy.. I think Leicester will scrape a win, their home form is a damn site better than their away form.. Anyone know if both teams are full strength? Gemini
Let's hope that weather forecast turns out to be correct. Incidentally whilst we're on the subject of this match it just shows how you can't trust anyone official to tell the truth if it's against their interests. In this week's Speedway Star team manager Norrie Allan states 'On Saturday they had the Arsenal match at 5.30pm and we were already looking at a bad weather forecast. I think it would have been off anyway as apparently the weather did turn out to be poor on Saturday.' Well, sod me I must have imagined that the sun was shining all day and no sign of any rain. It was also very windy and that would have done a good job drying the track out if they'd have bothered to go ahead, so I wonder where he got that bit of information from. I presume Lions only doubt is Ludvig Lindgren, depends if his back injury has cleared up, if he is fit then him & Auty face a dash from the Scunthorpe v Newcastle match which starts at 3.00pm, which I think why the start time as been put back to 7.45pm. Obviously Poole are at Belle Vue at midday, so they will be hoping that they come through without any injuries.

In fairness, I was playing cricket just down the road and we went off a few times for rain. When the meeting would have been staged, it would have been fine, but throughout the morning and then on and off through the afternoon it had been moist

Bank holiday Monday traffic could be a major problem for those riding elsewhere during the day, it could turn out to be interesting who makes it. Scotsmen prefer dank, gloomy and drizzle. Sun shining all day for us that's poor weather. It's all a cultural thing.

As the Crow flies I'm probably about 4 miles from the stadium and not one drop of moisture fell apart from very early morning I'm told when I was still in bed. (Thank goodness Liontamer isn't around or that could get a response.)

(Thank goodness Liontamer isn't around or that could get a response.) The forecasted rain on the Saturday, didn't materialise in the manner it had been expected.. The band of heavy rain that should have arrived didn't, and it was destroyed by rogue high pressure, and arrived in the form of heavy, very localised showers.... Leicester was lucky, and didn't cop any heavy ones.. That's why I don't agree with call-offs based on forecasts, 24hrs or more before race day. Nobody would have been inconvenienced if they would have waited until 9am Saturday, and reviewed it then....
Gemini
Nobody would have been inconvenienced if they would have waited until 9am Saturday, and reviewed it then.... Agreed and that is the whole point. Calling matches off the day before ~ in this case very early on Friday morning ~ based on the weather forecast is just not on. The match on Saturday wasn't due to start until 8pm so plenty of time on the day to call it off if necessary.
foreverblue
Bank holiday Monday traffic could be a major problem for those riding elsewhere during the day, it could turn out to be interesting who makes it. They should be ok barring motorway accidents, Poole's meeting starts at 12 so they should be able to get to Leicester by 7 fairly easily i would have thought. M6 on bank holiday can be a real nightmare. Expensive day for Poole fans doing both meetings.
Steve Shovlar
M6 on bank holiday can be a real nightmare. Expensive day for Poole fans doing both meetings. Didn't you know we are all millionaires down here and drink champagne in the bars of Sandbanks every evening? Just heading over to pick up 'Arry, Jaimie, Louise and family. The good news is the weather is good with a dry day, so no extra stress worrying if meetings are going to be on or not. Leaving Poole at 5.30 am, picking up shaleshifter at 6.15 then heading up to Manchester, in the hope of arriving before 10.30. Should miss any heavy traffic on the road. Then a slow drive down to Leicester for the evening meeting. Loads of time to spare. Hopefully 8 big points and happy days! (wishful thinking)

I'd be tempted to go M62 M1 although the M1 does have one of those 'go slow' sections
A ORLOV
I'd be tempted to go M62 M1 although the M1 does have one of those 'go slow' sections Looking at the news earlier it seems the whole country is going to suffer traffic jams this Bank Holiday with volumes of traffic and road works, so pick your route carefully.
