BL65
Just something that crossed my mind while at work.Who was the last active league rider that was born in the 19th Century? Colin Watson rode for West Ham in 1946 and I believe he was born in 1899.
norbold
According to Who's Who in Speedway, 1949, the two oldest riders at that time were Norman Evans and Charlie Spinks, both born in 1904. So, if Colin Watson was born in 1899, it does seem quite likely it was him.

cyclone
Colin Watson rode for West Ham in 1946 and I believe he was born in 1899. It has previously been mentioned on another website that South African, Keith Harvey ( born Verulam, South Africa, 1896 ) was the last 19th Century rider in league racing, having ridden for New Cross in the early part of 1947. Split
It has previously been mentioned on another website that South African, Keith Harvey ( born Verulam, South Africa, 1896 ) was the last 19th Century rider in league racing, having ridden for New Cross in the early part of 1947. So he would have been alive during the Second Anglo-Boer War (11 October 1899 – 31 May 1902) although I don’t believe there was much action around the Verulam area in what is now KZN/Natal.
