Rye House 2017

Recommended Posts

Certainly cant see Rob being on that average by the end of the season, although his guest rides not counting for his average will help.

Be interesting to know his average for all Rye meetings ridden, maybe some stats guru can help out.

By my calculations it's 5.38 for all Rye meetings including guest appearances. That's taking into account KOC, but not including bonus points. With bonus points it's 6.53 Edited by Shads

If his average drops below 6 in the EL, it is currently 6.26, although the way he's going it probably will

:t:

Currently being the key word. New green sheets (effective from Monday) show him at 5.49 which would make him a very attractive signing for a PL club.

Exactly

Although Batchelor would be so frustrating to watch, imo, he's so inconsistent and whenever I've happened to watch him he's ALWAYS got bike problems

Surely Branford must be in the team next season after his performances in the last few meetings or will the promotion miss out to another team?

Hope Rye use Rob next year but the main problem I guess would be that he I believe is a Redcar asset.

Probably let Panthers sign him for 2017! :D

Ipswich, with Rye House donating the fee to the Ben Fund.

They wouldn't do that would they? What? They have already? Ahhhh. Danyon Hume of course.

I wonder if the sponsors' enclosure will be ready for the last few home meetings.... Mmmmmh No holding breath here.

Letting Hume join Ipswich last winter for what I believe was buttons, looks more and more a faux pas by Rye that they surely must now be regretting.

The progress the boy has made in 12 months has been outstanding.

Perhaps he wanted to leave

Or more likely the new promotion not realising that they had a talented asset on their hands. I believe it was Danny King who saw the potential in the lad and recommended to Chris Louis that he signed him.

Fair play to the Rye promotion for donating half the fee to the Ben Fund though that was a great gesture.

Good on the lad , but not real sure what relevance it has to Rye House team next season.

Hume has been put in a potential 1-7 for next season by a Rye supporter, that's why he's being talked about. Hardly going completely off topic is it?

Besides, if you think every 2017 thread will/should only contain posts relating to said teams 1-7 for next year then you're in for a disappointment.

Performances from Peterborough onwards have made the season look more respectable but the team absolutely has to change for next year or it'll be another year of struggle.

Let's look at it, Peterborough made a huge gamble changing their side to try and reach the play-offs, it didn't work and we just happened to be one of the sides that faced their new side. Plus they've lost a lot at home this season, it's really not that surprising that we picked up a point.

Sheffield were pretty much a two man team and forced a last heat decider for a point at Rye still. If Bates had scored like he did for Scunthorpe on Monday they would have won.

Redcar are poor, we should have beaten them away anyway. Half the sides in the league have.

Scunthorpe run us close despite also having a pretty bad side IMO.

Eddie needs serious back up, on too many occasions Robbo has had to step up this season, when he does so that should be a bonus and not expected of him weekly.

Rightio won't waste anymore bandwidth with it then if it's going to be another topic spoilt by frivolous comments.

I would like to see Cameron Heeps back at Hoddesdon next season.

When the track was right and before he blew his best engine, he was the most exciting rider I saw around the race strip in 2016. Yes, he cannot gate for toffee, but that is mainly down to the wrist he has damaged so badly since he came here when he was 15 and he is still only 20 and has (heaps) of potential still. If anything Cam needs to be motivated as he gets so down on his performances. For an Australian he has zero self confidence and, maybe, is too nice a guy. The way Josh bates was seen comforting Cameron at Sheffield recently and trying to gee him up was a sight for sore eyes and tells a story about the team spirit, Team Manager's ability and lack of understanding of the current promotion, in my opinion.

If there is anyone around better on his average I would be surprised as, potentially, he can score a maximum and beat anyone from the opposition. The way he beat KB at the EoES before his heroic laydown when Robbo fell in front of him was outstanding and shows the speed, skill and even gating ability is there. Heeps was not signed as a third heat leader but that is the role he has had to perform this season after Klindt let the side down.

I realise that Cameron is not universally popular on the terraces but for a rider who cares and wants to do well, and has the potential to win heats, you won't find a better option at a sub 6.

Andrew Silver leaving the club didn't help. He had a huge part in Danyon Humes progression from someone who could hardly stay on his bike for four laps to a solid NL second string and decent PL reserve.

The younger Raiders could do with his coaching
