Wolves V Lakeside 22.8.16 Return Of The Champ

Recommended Posts

Really good meeting for the neutral, some good racing in front of what looked a massive crowd, big queue to get in.

The Heat 11 incident was one of the most terrifying incidents I have ever seen. It was pure luck that the track staff, porky and the start line girl wasn't seriously injured. PK clamped Lawson down on the inside of bend 4, Lawson bike took off air Bourne towards them. PK rightly excluded by ref.

Shame Lakeside didn't have Bridger, but v impressed with AJ. He was on fire for most of the meeting, as was Lawson until the crash which took it out of him.

Good to see Woffinden back, took a few rides to get it right. Was involved in some great races.

Seems pretty clear " the World Champion returned to Monmore " " You Didn't "

me retuning isn't news. If you want to know why I wasn't there read wider. It isn't even an issue however some seem to take issue with me missing home meetings when I have something else to do. As previously stated to another poster - mind your own business.

Difference there is KK for his average at no 1. Lindgren got some of his as a 2nd string

Back to the original question, what was wrong with him tonight?

Oh yeah, I think he had 2 matches as second string

Original question no idea.

My point is the two biggest contributors on all things Wolves Speedway are you and Bwitcher. Its a little hard taking your opinions seriously when neither of you attend in person. Surprised you didn't go tonight with Woffinden being your favourite beau

*Makes a cup of tea and plumps up the cushion on the armchair*

I'll join you.

I'm simply happy Wolves have had an important win, in front of what seems like a big crowd and have strengthened the team to give us a chance of winning the title.. which is what I would have thought all Wolves fans would have wanted.

I see absolutely no need for negativity.

So only people who attend every home match have a worthy opinion?

No wonder I have no need to take you seriously.

Look on the updates site as to how many meetings I attend yearly to see your theory blown out of the water.

As already stated if you were interested before making such wild claims you can read within this (and other threads) why I haven't been attending in the past 6 Weeks or so.

I'd have loved to see the champ on his return tonight and I will catch him in the coming weeks no doubt however there is no bigger Wolves speedway fan than me irregardless of your rather ridiculous theory.

it's amazing to think that people don't think it's not important that Tai rides in the El and that the way forward is without big names ....madness

What would you prefer, a four team 'Elite' League? The madness is on the track right now - a bankrupt league with insane rules. Yes it would be great to have an 18 team first division again with all the world's stars riding - but while Poland is paying the money and BSI and One Sport making Saturdays unusable the madness is in the blinkered, simplistic attitude that you preach.

The stark reality is that the sport can't afford these 'names', even if they bring in a few more supporters to help pay for their costs - and, quite frankly I begin to wonder if it can afford supporters like you who clearly couldn't care less about speedway unless they're seeing the 'stars' and their team's winning.

It does prove that there's a way to go before there can be proper reform of the leagues - stubborn ignorance won't let it happen.

Best to let Elite League carry on killing itself until there's an even smaller handful of fans bleating about 'names'.

That's the madness.

The EL's problems may be eased but they are certainly not solved by the World Champion keeping himself in practice for the remaining GPs.

I could book Beyonce into my village hall. I'd get loads more people - but certainly not enough to pay her.....

I was pleased to see Max Clegg ride with so much improvement and his times proved it although the track was riding very fast last evening.Freddie just did not seem to have the pace but I hope he will not be affected by recent upheavals and carry on being an important member ( and captain ) of the side as he has done a good job this year at No. 1.As an ex Rye House fan I would have liked to have seen Edward Kennett score more but not at the expense of a Wolves win ! I just hope our No. 3 does not jump ship at the end of the season.Well done to all the other members of the team.

No the stark reaily is speedway can't lose any more fans and the only way to go forward is try and stop that and bring more in like last night ...yet again keep making the silly mistake that some how it's only the elite that it's killing itself when the pl has a complete mess for years with just as many clubs in trouble and on the verge of going bust as there income does not cover there outlay .

Your just a normal pl fan who does who has a snob like attitude to the el and just wants it to fail .your the one who does care about speedway ...your bit about Beyoncé is just a silly one ..if can get someone in the right venue at the right price it pays for itself like Ward did at Swindon did last year and no doubt Woffy will do for wolves this year ...lets just said you book a less well known singer at a village hall and no one turns up the bottom line is your still lose money and won't be able to pay the singer and that is what is going on at most speedway clubs .

One day it might dawn on you that speedway has massive problems in every league .

Where is this speedway racing that Stevebrum does every Monday taking place at?

you were told this last time it is at Stoke. You seem to have an issue with this, what's the reason?

why didn't you reply to my post asking why I wasn't at Wolves as I could have a answered any questions if you really wanted to know?

but instead you ask a random question not even aimed at the person you are asking.

Unbelievable or trolling.

Unbelievable!

When I didn't provide a link or some sort of proof to back something up it was 'jackanory', you just say 'read wider', lol!

If the proof of what you claim ever does materialise (as if, lol!) then clearly that will be bragging, won't it?

I expect you to now demand a link or quote and then to say you didn't mean it that way or some such waffle.

I said read wider within this post and other posts. You would have to be not very bright to find it.

Try post 37 that confirms what I'm saying. Unless of course you choose to believe that it's a lie or 'jackanory' that I'm missing Wolves home matches for no real reason.

What "proof" do you require then?

As for waffle, the posts I'm replying to clearly are the definition of waffle.

Maybe you just like to pick and goad others for the sake of it, however each to their own.

I don't think anyone has ever called rmc 'normal'?! But the rest of that sentence I agree with! :t::party::P:wink:

Its true the top riders do attract bigger crowds - as was witnessed last evening - and Messrs Pearson and Tatum said so - so it has to be true. (The top riders also have a much better chance of attracting bigger brand sponsorship.)

Watching on the tv, don't you find that a Wolverhampton race in between 2 Swindon races shows just how small and tight Monmore is? When you see a normal 15 races from Monmore, your brain gets used to it and it looks to ride big, but it's tiny and really is a case of slamming the bike into reverse going into corners....

Not helped by the fact that Swindon is the largest track in the EL so you are comparing one extreme to the other - although Monmore is small the racing is far far better than at The Abbey.

I would agree with all you say in the broadest terms but I would love to know ( not a cat in hell's chance ) if the increased numbers at Wolves last night coverded the increased cost of Tai last night for the club .With regard to the big names I think that they would bring more people through the gates but at what cost ? the EL can't compete with the Polish and Swedish leagues with regards to pay or so I am led to believe.

At the end of the day lets savour watching the w/chanp in the EL and hope that even over a short period of time there is an increase of interest in the sport in general .

Given that the crowd was reported to be MUCH bigger last night, not just a little bit, then it must be at least 300-400 more, perhaps more. Now factor in, you're only covering the difference between Kylmakorpi and Tai wages wise.. not just paying Tai from scratch. 300-400 extra people at £10 per person would quite easily cover that and then some.

If that is the case I have no reason to doubt your information why is Tai not riding for Wolves full time( are the extra fans sustainalble or is it novelty value) ,i am sure on your figures the finacial reward would overcome the race night issues as I think we would all agree money talks !

Was a very strange one crowd wise last night.

There was quite a large queue outside when I arrived but it was quieter on the piece of terracing where I stand - maybe everyone turned up a little earlier expecting there to be a larger crowd than normal.
