Play Off Race - Top 4

Recommended Posts

The crucial last fixture is not til 16th - so 19th is a bit soon for either of those teams to properly promote, advertise etc a meeting on the following Monday - not withstanding getting a programme formatted and printed in time!!!!

Plus it's not really a wasted week as the 2nd leg of semi would still have been on 26th I'd imagine

But it has been done Clive, take when we met kings lynn "eventually " on a wet thurs to then go to cov on the Fri and back to poole on Monday. Then the blue riband in 2013 full programme with pics from the previous nights second leg final at brum. I just see it as wasted time.

Not if you have the two semi's next week.

Look at recent years with weather problems and before anyone mentions it (holes)😊

I wasn't thinking particularly of Poole - more either Lakey or Swindon. In any case back in 2013 Poole had someone really putting in the extra hours to turn all the programmes around!! :t::t::shock::wink::wink:

(ps. If the cut-off had remained at tonight (14th) then I was told the P/Os would have started on 19th!)

Looking at the weather for Friday we could be screwed

anyway even if Swindon don't get a point tonite :cry::cry:

Now that's a scenario I hadn't thought of. Assuming Swindon don't get a point at BV and the meeting at Lakeside is rained off, does that mean that Swindon progress (as they have the points on the board so to speak) or will it be the daft toss a coin, pick from hat, make it up as we go along scenario?

In that case, the rain might be quite timely - for Swindon fans

I would think should Fridays meeting not go ahead then Swindon would get the last play off place by default, its not the Robins fault that Lakeside have not raced all their home fixtures by that date, we have had umpteen weeks during the season with no speedway to fit all the meetings in and we have only had two rain offs during that time, the last of those being in June, a month where we only raced at home once on the 1st and we didn't race again until the 1st of the following month.

Another interesting stat is both rain offs were against Swindon so not exactly a good omen.

However I think Swindon will get a point tonight rendering Friday as meaningless anyway.

We would need a Pavlic style 18 pointer to get anything friday, not our greatest away track.

Strange one Pavlic, pretty sure he scored a big Max or very high score on his debut at Wolves, was it paid 21?? Yet never seemed to do it consistently on continental tracks that you would think would suit him more

I don't agree with your logic.

A number of the matches still to be ridden involve the playoff teams e.g. Poole still have to go to Belle Vue (twice) and Wolves, Swindon at Lakeside and Belle Vue, Belle Vue at Poole.

So I think it is far from certain who will finish top. Poole haven't ridden the BV track so I don't know how you can say that BV should win.

It looks like 1 from 3 for top spot so not clear cut.

It looks like my logic was pretty well founded looking at the final standings :D:D:D

So what`s changed from Belle Vue losing at home to Kings Lynn- to winning their remaining 5 home matches against better opposition in the main.

Based on the standings they obviously changed something :D:D:D

Im amazed lakeside have left this last meeting so late. They were well ahead of most on home fixtures, but are near enough last to finish. Considering Belle vue didnt start until mid may how have lakside finished later?

Someone find Shovlars posts about Woffy being a ringer and put them on here for a comment from the great man himself

Big difference. One was a swap to strengthen, this one is an injury replacement for poor Hans.

Swindon and wolves can't ride on a Wednesday

Tough on them then. One leg it is.
