Sure it wasn't Jocky Wilson?

(One for the teenagers there)...

Didn't Dexy's Midnight Runners write a song about him? ;). (Another one for the teenagers I guess!)

You'll have to fit it inside a dog track, yes?

So there will be size issues.. Also, banking might be an issue because the doggies will need to be seen all the way around the track from the main stand? So, the banking won't be allowed to be to high, as it will obstruct parts of the dog track bends..? Just a thought....

Already have banking at the Abbey even tho' there is a dog track around it. Just need to have good drainage between dog track & speedway track & raise the dog track above the banking height, as at present track.

Then you get water run-off down the track banking, which erodes channels in the racing surface, can be difficult to eradicate in between meetings...

It could be the same as the present track where the speedway track is lower than the dog track which allows for banking, the top of which is also below the level of the dog track, also the majority of scouring of the surface is where water comes off the dog track on to the speedway track because there is no drainage between the two.

The usual arrangement is for the area between the tracks to be lower again, and/or have a ditch to hold the rainwater till it disperses into the ground after the meetings.

Excellent news for Swindon, speedway, and last league meeting tonight at the Old Shabbey, chance to say ta ta to the old girl and those infamous back-straight bogs.

April 2017 if all goes to plan

I thought the old bogs were an integral part of the new stadium? I'd heard the stadium plans had included them?

Incidentally, does anyone know if Sidney still guards them?

English Heritage failed to save them, and they have sadly been condemned. One last visit tonight for old time sake, it will be packed in there, an emotional moment.

I heard keef and Sidney have been sectioned?

I was told they were having a party in them last night.

Try reading what I said - "just need good drainage between dog track & speedway track"! This would prevent run-off onto the track!

Hopefully they will design it to have drainage between the dog track and the speedway track, and then good drainage on the inside of the speedway track, one can only hope that someone who knows what they are doing is involved with the design.

These will reduce or even eliminate many of the flooding problems we have had in the past and stop any track surface scouring.
