Not sure if it's sour grapes but some interesting comments from a couple of riders about last night. Wells said the track was the roughest he has raced on all season but it used to be really good and jensen saying how dark it is.

I've been saying the same regularly about the bumps and darkness!

Have to say last night was probably great for the local fans but pretty tedious for the neutrals.

Precious little spirit shown by Worky - I knew they were poor on the road but not this bad.

Wells & Jensen made the effort and Williamson for a lap before he frightened himself by being in the lead in heat 2 and then binned it.

But ippo were very professional and they all rode well (though maybe it wasn't Risager's finest hour being taken from behind by Jensen!!).

Young Sir Alec looked much better. Very fast and a couple of good overtakes. Not sure he is always in complete control but certainly better without the very big bumps on the track that were there last week. (lucky Mr. Wells wasn't at Foxholes then!)

Jacobs saying no one can get round but we win.

Was it really that bad last night??? Maybe it's the new dirt? Now if only we had a track expert to tell us, mmmmm

This week didn't look to bad to be honest no one seemed to be bouncing around on ruts or uneven parts of the track . Last week was pretty rough thou think the amount of faller's last week was testament to that . This week couldn't have been that bad Roynon who always seems to have a tumble at Foxhall got round ok .

He's only moaning because he was crap last night , and didn't get his usual jump start oh the ref never saw a thing !

Agree with Jensen thou it does look very dark at times due to the lights being directed down mostly on to the stock car track .

Maybe Tungate looking for any excuse as he can't ride Foxhall

The track looked a lot smoother this week than last meeting. Workington never started this meeting and looked like a team who cant win away from home and never attacked the track like the home boys.

Lets hope that meetings like this don't raise our averages too much so we can track this team next season, minus Risager who just doesn't get any better and cost us getting 70 when losing heat 14. All in all a very poor display from Workington, the worst I've seen from a visiting team in years with the highlight being Danyon passing for fun and a truly deserved man of the match award. He seemed to be more relaxed as the meeting went on and got confidence from the heat win in heat 2.

Best performance by a Witches No. 7 for a long time, if not ever and at least since Good Friday 31 March 1972...?

Would invite Danyon's detractors (or is that "the tractors"?) to comment on last night's performance - if any of them were in attendance...

Long time until next home meeting, will need a theme for the last couple of fixtures.

Suggestion from the Mad Colchester Postie is that, if the Witches are in the PL next season, and are not replaced in that league by Birmingham, then the management should look at retaining the existing 1 to 7 to start next season. It was great to see the commitment shown to the broomstick last night, particularly in a very one sided match where complacency could easily have slipped in.

Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, the MoTM award went to the skipper last night, although Danyon was seen leaving the pits with a bottle of bubbly (and a shiny new tool box).

Have to say wasn't expecting it to be quite that easy....

If only we had started the season with this seven, recon we would have been in with a shout.

Hate to say I was right, but I said before a wheel was turned our reserves weren't up to it at the beginning and Kerr was a surprise but Ben is always brilliant, even if he doesn't win he gives 100% entertainment and JJ was always a good option. What can you say about Danyon.. he was absolutely fearless last night, head in hands moment and he nailed it, boy that boys got balls ! If only we had them at the outset

Never mind, lets hope we can squeak through

The same one I would get rid of re my earlier post. Replace him with Rasmus Jensen.

Fair shout that thought Ramus Jensen tried very hard last night for his points , was always up the pace and will probably feel rather fed up with his low points return for all the effort he put in .

Workington really were bad last night poorest visiting team seen for a long while .

Well try and guess, shouldn't be too hard

Do you want Cam back to make it a full English speaking 1 to 7...?

Obviously Rohan's progress this season would make it difficult to fit him back in - not that he'd want to come back of course...

Yes, liked the look of Rasmus last night and was determined to overtake Morten who made himself a bit of a sitting duck.

Taken from the Witches Website

The ‘Tru7.com’ Witches were in stunning form once again at Foxhall to obliterate the Workington Comets 69-23 on Thursday.

It was a one sided affair from heat 1 to heat 15 as the Witches trounced the visitors who had no reply all evening. Danny King recorded his sixth straight maximum at Foxhall scoring 15.

King and Sarjeant set the tone in heat one with a 5-1 from the gate before there was a faller in heat two as Matt Williamson came off whilst leading, causing Danyon Hume to crash whilst trying to avoid the Comets man. The re-run will live long in the memory for Hume who won his first heat in Witches kevlars. Adam Roynon made the gate before Joe Jacobs passed the visiting rider on the back straight and then Hume rounded the pair of them on the home straight to lead and take the victory for a Witches 5-1. Nico Covatti won heat three as Morten Risager held off Rasmus Jensen for second and another 5-1. Ben Barker took the chequered flag in heat four with Hume third for another heat advantage that gave the Witches a 19-5 lead.

Ricky Wells was sent out on a tactical ride for the Comets in heat five but he could not get the better of Covatti who won with Risager in third to cancel out the tactical ride for a 4-4. It was back to the 5-1’s in heat six as King and Sarjeant eased to another maximum. They just kept on coming all night as Jacobs and Barker became the latest pairing to hit a 5-1 in heat seven with Barker protecting his partner all the way round just to make sure of the points. Sarjeant was a winner in heat eight but it was Hume who caught the eye as he chased Mason Campton in second and passed the Comets man on the third lap to join Jacobs at the front and put the Witches 38-12 up.

Covatti and Risager coasted to another 5-1 in heat nine before King and Sarjeant followed suit in heat 10. It could have been another in heat 11 as Barker and Jacobs made the gate but the latter lifted coming out of the second turn allowing Wells into second and the home side had to settle for a 4-2. Covatti completed his maximum in heat 12 with another win as Hume was amongst the action again, passing Roynon for third on the second lap leaving the score rather one-sided at 56-18 to the Witches.

Wells made the gate in heat 13 but King passed the American on the second lap and on the final lap Barker also passed the Comets captain who fell to compound the away side’s misery. The 5-1 meant Barker completed his own paid maximum on the night. The away side finally produced a heat winner and it was a great ride by Jensen who prevented another 5-1 to the home side after he passed Jacobs for second on the second lap before then hitting the front after passing Risager on the third lap for a 3-3.

Wells made the gate in heat 15 but King was having none of it and passed him going down the back straight making room for Sarjeant to come through into second for another 5-1 to round the night off and leave the final score 69-23 to the Witches with King completing a five-ride maximum and Sarjeant completing a five-ride paid maximum.

Team Manager Ritchie Hawkins was once again delighted with the performance and says confidence is high in the team.

“Workington struggled but we rode really well,” said Hawkins. “The string of home meetings has really helped us. It’s a great shame we didn’t have that at the start of the year. Confidence is high especially at Ipswich and it was another dominant performance.”

Hawkins had praise for a number of his riders who managed to break their own individual records in the meeting.

“It was a night of firsts really; that was the first maximum Nico has ever had in British Speedway and I think it was Sarj’s (James Sarjeant) first paid 15 point maximum and obviously Danyon got his first heat win. I’m really pleased with everyone and it’s not very often you go through a whole meeting where you don’t run a last.”

Hume continues to impress the Foxhall management and the boss says he is improving every week.

“It was a massive improvement from last week for Danyon and he gets better every week and made a couple of good passes which were the highlight of the night really.”

The Witches hold the final play-off spot at present but Hawkins says the picture will be clearer after next Thursday at Redcar.

“We’ve got to win at Redcar and then we’ve got a little break in our fixtures so we will know more after that. Our points difference has been helped over the past few weeks at home but our focus is now on Redcar.”

Maybe that shows what a fine job your doing on the updates in recent weeks when Sue has been unable to make it to Foxhall. Anyone heard from her lately after her little accident ?

A lot of that comes from my comments on updates. In fact some of it is word for word lol. Maybe I should get credits

I always credit you Mr Baldyman. Even for eating all the doughnuts.....

By the way, my Romanian lady friend says, hello (in a very deep dusky accent)...., lol.

I dont understand why people want rid of Morten.

First few weeks he was the only rider doing his job and to be fair he hasnt really gone backwards.

King has been blistering and wasnt at the start of the season

We had 2 reserves who lets face it would do well to get 5 between them

Kerr was awful as well.

We now have Barker, Jacobs and Hume who have turned our season around.

If we had this 1-7 at the start we would have been up there.

Would anybody else do as well as Risager at 4? Im not sure

Does this mean you went last night Gavan?

Don't think Danyon would have been so good at the start of the season, but five months on he has doubled his starting NL average and is knocking out HL scores consistently for the Brummies.

I'd suggest Cam Heeps as a straight swap....? Another 100% trier and entertainer and not 21 until October.
