You did win in 2012 but howarth scored 11 plus 1 from reserve. You maybe thinking of 2011 when you lost but nick morris scored 19 plus one.

Bach scored a max when you won but howarth wasn't in the team

cheers, Howarth I was thinking about but the brains getting old. Can't see anything but a comfortable home win tonight, unfortunately not rocket science.

I think it's maybe time to stop pretending we can make the play offs. Newcastle have 6 matches in hand over us and they are only 2 points behind. 4 of those matches being at home. Newcastle are not going to suddenly lose 4 home matches.

Sorry that's a bit negative, but come on. Seriously???

Newcastle will make the playoffs as you say, but what about Sheffield, Peterborough and Edinburgh.... bit unlikely but Ippo could still get in there.

I hesitate to call the Comets a shower of sh!te as that would be unfair......

Worst performance from the Comets I've read about for ages, tragic, but at least we now know a change of team boss isn't the answer either?

Really cannot understand how the same team can be so totally different to the one that races at DP whenever it crosses the Border into anywhere else, we really are an enigma and wholly kidding ourselves if we believe we have any chance of qualifying for the play offs, on this sort of display I would try for seventh, it's safer? ;)

Looking like another very early finish to our season again, might reach October if we get some rain offs or, Glasgow keep us waiting for the LC Semi!! :)

Good performance from the Witches but against very poor opposition. Great to see Danyon win his first PL race.

It's not really possible to describe how bad Workington were. You had to be there to understand how bad they were, often both riders were half a lap adrift.

we are used to the away form . its rare we get a draw/win in today's modern speedway era .

whatever the riders get paid its too much . turn up with 12 grands worth of gear and still cant put on a decent show for the fans .

speedway next year ? no thanks . find something else better to do , like paint the kitchen and watch it dry !

I would say that was the worst visiting performance in the whole of the time we have been in the PL.

Worky can just about claim to be classified as asbysmal thanks to the pride shown by Jensen to win 14 and for Wells at least trying to get amongst it. Without that it wouldnt have reached the scale.

For the Witches a great all round effort but the stand out for me has to be Danyon - take a bow fella.

A couple of classy passes were the highlights of the night.

Looks like its too little too late sadly re the play offs but hey ho thats life...

Great to see a few join in with the hi vis and noise making including a some of the kids - top work!!

An excellent victory against poor opposition, but then again you can only beat what's put in front. I think now rather than looking over our shoulder we are closing in on the teams above us. Peterborough have lost 3 at home and look decidedly ropey at the moment. 4 points at Redcar next week would really put a puma amongst the pigeons. Win what we have to and let Newcastle worry about their fixture pile up. By my reckoning they have 10 fixtures to fit in in just under a month. As long as it doesn't effect our fixtures against them, then pressure on man and machine for them could backfire as they try to squeeze in fixtures before the cut off date.

The table remains the same then. The best hope we had of making the play offs was to hope that Sheffield slipped up at home to Somerset last week or Edinburgh tonight. That didn't happen so now we need 5 points from our remaining two away meetings, and hope Sheffield don't pick up anything on the road. Unlikely, but you never know.

I made the right decision to stay at home tonight. 2 reasons, Workington are rarely worth watching away from home, and I'm really falling out of love with the sport, when they sort out the messing around at the start then I'll start going again. There's usually more false starts in one meeting these days than we've had in the whole of the Olympics, why? because in the Olympics the punishment fits the crime, in speedway it's worth trying to cheat as you get another chance.

Not sure if it's sour grapes but some interesting comments from a couple of riders about last night. Wells said the track was the roughest he has raced on all season but it used to be really good and jensen saying how dark it is. Tungate saying it's really bad this year. Jacobs saying no one can get round but we win.

Was it really that bad last night??? Maybe it's the new dirt? Now if only we had a track expert to tell us, mmmmm
