Tai Quits Team Gb

Recommended Posts

I would like to add, throughout all this, that I am not a Tai Woffinden "hater", just a fan who supports TeamGB and expects British riders to be proud to ride for their country. Not throw hissy fits and fail to back it up by giving reasons why.

Woffinden learnt his trade in the UK, but by refusing to ride in the British Final, refusing to ride in the EL until Sweden finished, refusing to represent his country at international level doesn't leave a lot to like. He then doesn't help himself by refusing to give his reasons for dumping our proud national team in the gutter. Even Darcy Ward was fed up with it all and made a comment.

You will always get the apologists on here backing him regardless, but the truth is he should start building a few bridges rather than throwing a few tantrums because people have said no to him.

He could start by issuing a statement giving his reasoning for quitting Team GB. The would quash any rumours stone dead.

That is the nub of the matter.

Apart from that, whatever happened to privacy? If Tai asked for more than his share of monies - in a Team game I think he is wrong, as I said earlier. However at the end of the day what does it really matter. We are not entitled to know all of Tai's business. What he does and says is up to him. We all have things we would like to keep private and Tai is no different.

All I have read on here is largely conjecture from folk who say - so and so said this, and so and so said that. I am not saying anyone is lying but I would rather wait until the full story emerges, If the story does not emerge, then I will keep an open mind, but if Tai wishes to keep this private then I respect that - it is his RIGHT to do so.

It is also right that the BSPA keep their talks with Tai private too.

But it is the right of the fans to know the reasoning behind him refusing to ride. It's a sport, and therefore not the same as a regular "job".

No - it isn't a RIGHT. It would be very nice if Tai did issue a Statement, but crucially he does not have to.

As usual the Poole troll is totally wrong. I have a source as well and Team GB money has nothing to do with Tai's reasons. Darcy was messing around on facebook just love the way the usual band of fools jump on it. Let Shovlar continue his Tai crusade it just shows him up for what he is

You've got absolutely no credibility though and its pretty obvious there is no "source" of yours

It's also completely wrong of you to try and pass of what someone concoiusly said as "messing" given you have no actual clue if it is or not, it can only be assessed as what the person said.

Your plea has fallen on deaf ears

Agree. All for debate but some on here are incapable and show their ignorance with abuse. Best bet is to just use the block member filter and you will find the experience much more pleasureable. The abusers can end up talking to themselves.

Like or hate him, Shovvy has always had strong reliable sources on this forum and people who have been on here for 10+ years will confirm that .

TW really does need to come out and make an official press release on the matter to put it to bed once and for all

Perhaps TW doesn't doesn't feel there is a need to put the matter to bed once and for all. Perhaps he doesn't give two hoots as to what is being said (over and over again) on a forum.

This thread is now on post 673 and, basically, the same things are being said over and over again. its like an old 78rpm record stuck in a grove by a bit of dirt (for younger ones read "an old 45rpm record"-for younger ones still... I'd be surprised if any younger ones on this forum).

Then people are free to say what they like.

Most would want to put the record straight.

Carl Jung once said, "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."

This is because what irritates us most in other people is *usually* what we dislike about our own behaviour.

Same people...making the same type of comments on many threads. They like to talk about others constantly...either riders or other forum members.

Constantly...it's a reflection of themselves. It's scientifically proven...these few but very vocal forum members have some serious social issues.

Riders laugh in the face of such people....they don't represent the 'normal' fan. They mean nothing to them or society in general.

To have so many views and spend so much time on a forum with 1000's of posts, only goes to prove they have no real life.

Normal people don't have that much time to care about such trivia.

It's not 'just' the forum though. Tai's made some rather silly, unprofessional comments on Twitter so far, basically throwing his toys out of the pram. Until I see a thought out argument and explanation about why he's taking a year out, then for me and others he will always be the guy that turned his back on the national side, on the country that gave him a chance in speedway.

If the prize money allocation is the source of all this discontent, (and I have no reason not to believe Steve Shovlars post, he has been a fairly reliable source over the years), then it highlights a couple of basic 'management' errors -

1. The allocation of prize money should have been understood, and agreed, before the event. (Most people go to work knowing the basis of the remuneration they are going to receive).

2. Instead throwing a hissy fit, would it not have been more sensible to suggest discussions be held to change the prize money allocations in future.

Basically, I support the equal allocation of prize money but it has to be recognised that in this instance we have a rider who is considerably better than the rest of the team and is scoring proportionately higher than the others.

A relatively simple solution could be along these lines -

An amount to be shared equally and the balance to be shared on a points scored basis,

e.g 5% to the reserve, 55% equally between the 4 main team riders, 40% in proportion to points scored.
