Double Ups 2017?

Recommended Posts

For 2017, will certain riders no longer be permitted to double up ?

IIRC, wef from 2014, doubling up would be restricted to three Seasons per rider.

If so, the likes of Cook, Lawson, King & Grajczonek will have to choose between the EL or PL for next Season.

Wonder what they will choose, or will this reg be quietly rescinded instead

Didn't know that, with the shortage of riders it would be a surprise if it was stopped. No doubt 6 rider teams will be speculated on too.

where does this 'shortage of riders' come from?? The NL is full of people who should have been progressed to PL ages ago - if there weren't so many DU/DD riders they could move to PL. Yes it weakens the PL slightly but c'est la vie - think of the financial savings not having to pay EL riders from 3 figure crowds.

Losing some double downers from the BEL will initially weaken the BPL, but will improve that league long term.... Also, why should foreign journeymen be employed as reserves/second strings when this Country has a third tier?

By constantly hiring these foreign journeymen, and unknowns, the BPL should be taking the best of the riders from the third tier (the ones that want to progress) employing as reserves or even second strings, that will free up places in the third tier for the best from the junior leagues, which then creates openings in those leagues for freshmen....

As it is at the moment, there's a bottle necks on the second and third tier, but only on the way up..... This is hindering British Speedway in producing enough riders that WANT to progress.....

Young Tom Bacon by all accounts looked good guesting at Plymouth on Friday and i am sure riders like him would jump at the chance on a PL berth completely agree with what you say.

There are gems out there if given the chance Edinburgh must be congratulated on the chance they took with young Bewley and are reaping the rewards.
