Agrotron
So this match was called off yesterday morning due to the 'terrible weather forecast' and while I should now be making my way there I'm sat at home looking out of the window at blue skies and sunshine. It's been the same all day too but VERY windy, which should have helped to dry the track out from yesterday morning's rain. Surely it would have been better to make a decision on the actual day of the match whether to go ahead or not as it wasn't due to start until 8pm anyway? Shale Searcher
I think the decision to call it off was influenced by the Leicester v Arsenal game being a 5.30 kick -off & on the TV. I know the speedway was put back to 8.00pm, but the attendance would have still been affected, & it seems at the minute money is more important than running against an under strength Poole, when we might have stood half a chance. Like you say it's been dry all day apart from a couple of light showers, which didn't even wet the pavements & with that strong wind i'm sure the track would have been fine, maybe even needing a bit of a watering. I live 2 minutes from The King Power, we had no rain, but could see small rainbow over ground, smallest shower area ever!!!
Gemini
Pmsl What's so funny? It's damn annoying sitting at home knowing I could be at Beaumont Park watching some Speedway. The season is short enough anyway. I think the decision to call it off was influenced by the Leicester v Arsenal game being a 5.30 kick -off & on the TV. I know the speedway was put back to 8.00pm, but the attendance would have still been affected. So why not give that as the reason. Can't stand lies and who's to say there will be a bigger attendance on Bank Holiday Monday when people might have already made other plans? I know of two people already who can't go. It was hacking down with heavy rain at the Leicester footie on TV - so the right decision to call it off methinks. Really? Very strange that when I only live a mile away. Must have been right over the stadium which means absolutely nothing unless it was at Beaumont Park, which it wasn't.

Shale Searcher
When the call off decision was made on Friday Morning, the forecast for the remainder of Friday, and Saturday was really not very good.... However, I am staunchly against calling meetings off the day before, based on a weather forecast, for exactly how Saturday turned out!! Had it not been called off Friday, there is absolutely no doubt that the track would have been nigh-on perfect for the race meeting.. No rain at all, of any consequence fell race day, against a forecast of heavy rain during the morning, very windy, with then heavy blustery showers for Saturday afternoon and early evening.. You really can't win at this game, damned if you don't, damned if you do!!! This season has seen some horrendous speedwayless gaps, no wonder the sport loses supporters, they will and do find other things to do, and get out of the habit of going.....

They got it very wrong by calling it off early, lions lost a chance of q home win.
Jonny the spud
well my £85 was wasted on a hotel, they're like Leicester .... no refund offered, i'll think twice before going there again.
cityrebel
Despite a dodgy forecast I went to rye house and lakeside yesterday. Despite the showery conditions both meetings were run, but the crowds were not great at either venue.
