Leicester V Poole Elb. 20/08/16

Recommended Posts

I don't expect any racing on saturday if the forecast is to be believed.

Nothing worse than having weather uncertainty on the day of the meeting with a six hour round trip. Guess we will have to wait and see. Not leaving until 4 pm so should have a reasonable idea by then.

I won't be leaving until 7pm so I'll have an even better idea whether it's worth going or not. I'm sure Shale Searcher or Weatherwatcher will keep you up to date but if not I'll stick my head out of the window and let you know what's happening.

Saturdays weather is very fluidic at the moment, literally changing by the hour... So a forecast now is going to be pretty unreliable....

I will give a forecast tomorrow afternoon (Friday) which should be a touch more reliable.. If I'd have had to make a decision to run Saturday or not earlier in the week, I'd have postponed the meeting, however now, the weather is nowhere near as bad as it was (for Leicester area) that is..

Good news too. So instead of calling in at Wolves on the way home we head for Leicester. A big 8 point day. (Hopefully!)

Lets hope the weather is better than forecast tomorrow.

An English Bank Holiday Monday?! - Its bound to p!$$ down surely!!!?

Still, anything to help these clubs fit in their outstanding home fixtures I suppose! ;-)

Always thinking of his fellow promoters and the general good of British speedway is MF!! :-) :-) ;-)

So this match was called off yesterday morning due to the 'terrible weather forecast' and while I should now be making my way there I'm sat at home looking out of the window at blue skies and sunshine. It's been the same all day too but VERY windy, which should have helped to dry the track out from yesterday morning's rain. Surely it would have been better to make a decision on the actual day of the match whether to go ahead or not as it wasn't due to start until 8pm anyway?

I guess Leicester thought they could get a bigger crowd on Bank Holiday Monday, considering Leicester have just finished playing against Arsenal and fans who support both may be heading for the pubs.

I think the decision to call it off was influenced by the Leicester v Arsenal game being a 5.30 kick -off & on the TV. I know the speedway was put back to 8.00pm, but the attendance would have still been affected, & it seems at the minute money is more important than running against an under strength Poole, when we might have stood half a chance. Like you say it's been dry all day apart from a couple of light showers, which didn't even wet the pavements & with that strong wind i'm sure the track would have been fine, maybe even needing a bit of a watering.
