Belle Vue V Rye Raiders,, Frid 12th Aug

I tend to agree with Waco. The bottom end at the Raiders is weak compared to most of the other sides in the league who also have rookies in their sides and from what I have seen some of the lads are long way off being consistent scorers in the NL (a lot of their points have been from others misfortune & beating each other) let alone PL riders of the not so distant future. However even though that could change i don't think it will be for a considerable while. These lads need track time, good equipment etc. These are not things easy to come by.

However...The three heat leaders are incredibly strong & there are obviously high hopes for George but unfortunately he seems to miss a lot of meetings through injury. Although I think the other lads may have been thrown in too early(and one into the difficult no. 2 race jacket) it's easy to forget that Danyon was originally part of the plans. With that as a top 5, especially with way that Danyon has been riding, the Raiders would have been having a very different season.

I would say that sadly Hunters injuries have been brought about due to being pushed to high in the team to early and over trying? Not sure that Danyon would have improved as much as he has if he had stayed at Rye either?

All teams started with rookies this season but with the exception of Powell all had a reasonable level of speedway experience and he still did a reasonable amount of meetings last year. The other was Saul who struggled on the Island and was signed up by the Rockets.

The plight of the bottom end is not down to the riders but the lack of contacts/knowledge by the promotion.

I agree re the choice of rookies & lack of knowledge/contacts. I think Rye got caught out there.

The club needs weekly training schools. I do wonder if Peter has too much to do running both sides & the training school.

Danyon has clearly benefited from the Poultec course. Quite a few of the riders on the course have improved well this year. If if his improvement was as much as it has been the side would have been greatly improved with him in it.

As you can see nothing but wobblers in the National league

and they have the cheak to charge £10 to watch poor racing like this .

Great race, but from what I've seen that the exception rather than the rule. The BV track helps tremendously, looks a great shape

Tbf with an ultrastrong top 3 and a lower order struggling with confidence, races at Rye will always be strung out to a degree except possibly heats 2 13 and 15.

I have seen Locke at practice once and Bowdry many times and both looked fast classy and at ease, Locke needs to translate that to having riders around him. Bowdry looked even better barring when he put a con rod out through the bottom end of the engine and I ve been suprised he has not been used recently.
