Grachan
My interest in speedway tends to be up and down. Recently I;ve lost interest a bit. Swindon have no fixtures for me to attend over the summer holiday and their team has been a bit rubbish. Interest was on the wane. Tai has signed for Wolves and my interest is back on the up. So it has to be a good thing - even if it does probably mean an even bigger defeat for Swindon at Monmore. I don't see why people are criticising this. If you have an opportunity to strengthen by bringing in one of your own assets you take it. Simple as that.
Trees
Absolutely, I dont see what Wolves has done wrong, or against the rules. Tai has missed one full season and all of this season so far so Wolves are quite entitled to sign him on his current average. So we don'the think he will score double figures in all the remaining Wolves mtgs? Hardly a 7 pointer ....
Gavan
So we don'the think he will score double figures in all the remaining Wolves mtgs? Hardly a 7 pointer ....not if he rides the same as he did last time! There is a reason why his average is low as he was poor last time he was here. Funny how the world champ is back just as the other gp boys start to mysteriously disappear! Getting to the businesses of the world title and Jonsson , Kasprzak, Zagar and Iversen start missing matches!
sparkafag
Tai Woofenden wonders why British Speedway is in the doldrums , look no further than decisions like this . So the Aces ,and the rest of the elite league spend 3 quarters of the season striving for a play off spot , only for Wolves to throw the world champion in just in time for the play offs . I understand TW is a Wolves asset but if he didn't think it was worth his while riding in England at the start of the season , whats changed ? Makes a complete mockery of the sport . What’s changed is his sides on the continents early elimination from the league, that’s not just changed for Woffinden – that has changed for Wolverhampton as well and thus they have taken the option to make a change that they feels strengthens their side, no mockery being made of the sport. That same option is open to every single club in the entire division if they chose to take it, it isn’t exclusive to Wolverhampton, a Wolverhampton side that was already looking on course to not only make the Play Offs but compete in them, it isn’t like they have cheated the system or done anything any other side wouldn’t have (in the case of sides like Coventry, Swindon and Kings Lynn should have done, and should have done earlier). The nature of this forum being a mixed forum allows fans from every side to make widespread overblown comments about team changes made by sides they don’t support and how each change will ruin the sport, kill it etc and so on. The reality is it’s not that different to a football club making a transfer to strengthen their team, things like this happen in all sports all the time, it isn’t exclusive to speedway and it isn’t the reason speedway is so poorly attended when compared to other sports or why speedway is "in the doldrums". The majority of other sports have 1001 and reasons why they have higher attendances, historical, TV time, media interest, sports profile, level of investment into promotion, level of investment from media and TV companies, level of investment from Government, accessibility, ability for people to just pick up a racket, ball etc and play. before even going into 101 other nuisances – it isn’t because “Wolves once signed a rider late in the season” it isn’t even because of supposed death by 100 cuts and self-serving promotions, the actual numbers in terms of attendees that impacts is minimal and the numbers who actually walk away as a result of Wolves signing riders like Woffinden and preach about Corinthian spirit and fairness to themselves (1 or 2) will be counteracted by the boosted attendances during Play Off Season. Speedway has plenty issues, if the nuclear button gets hit on every thread it takes away the credibility of the point re "speedway at deaths door" as it becomes a drained, oft repeated point and doesn't apply in this instance as it will increase profile, media attention and attendances, which is actually a good thing for the sport if the over looking custodian stance is going to be taken. Woz01
I can't believe people are moaning about this. It's sport, to win you have to make tough decisions and this isn't even a tough decision. Sport teams strengthen during a season if they want to be successful, Wolves have done what's best for them and at the same time giving the sport a bit of a boost. The British schedule is now helping Tai get meetings, funny that.
mikebv
So we don'the think he will score double figures in all the remaining Wolves mtgs? Hardly a 7 pointer .... An eight point average rider delivers 10 points off five rides... Don't think Tai would have too many problems delivering an eight point average between now and the end of the season will he? Looking at the 'swing' in points between him and JK I would reckon at least five more a match to the Wolves as Tai would I am sure take five rides a night. Makes perfect sense for them to bring him in and, for once at least, Speedway looks like a proper professional sport where the participants want to do everything (and do it legally, without making up or simply ignoring rules) to win the League... Shame we have already rode against them twice. Would have definitely gone to watch him against us.. Be great to see him ride at our place in the final though!!
hyderd
Well this signed turns Wolves into playoff semi finialists to clear favourites over Belle Vue who must be gutted after all the hard work they have done in 2016. To Stick with the same one to seven all season, only to see another club bring a ringer in at the death to take the title away must irk. Pooles chances of reaching the final now have reduced dramically. It's in the rules but is hardly within the spirit of the sport. Personally bringing in ringers for the playoffs like this should be against the rules. Just my opinion. UMMM G Hancock springs to mind. Get over it SS Poole have done it so have B/Vue. Don't think Tai would have too many problems delivering an eight point average between now and the end of the season will he? We thought the same in 2014 but we all know what happened there. Whilst the hype is warranted about Tai coming back to boost my club and the league and sport as a whole I still have memories of that dreadful season and think there is a hint that unless he is 100% committed we may have 50% like in 2014. Hopefully this short spell we will see the real Tai, not the pale imitation of 2014. I'm taking nothing for granted yet!

A ORLOV
Would have had to be in place of Jason Doyle. Could it not have been with a lower average rider in place of Nick and Sedge, as Rosco has said we need to change two, not sure if it has to be one for one or a redeclaration where there is a problem, if as I think, we are above the team limit. ruckerroo
It just makes the league a 3 hoss race rather than 2, makes being top all the more important so whoever def chooses the 4th side. Im no woffy fan but it spices up the last 6 weeks of the season, i feel sorry for jk tho , who is injury prone and hasnt done a bad job at all for the wolves

Aces51
I have no problem with Wolves signing Woffinden. It's within the rules and if you want to do it there is nothing wrong with signing someone on a lower average than the rider being replaced when you can be fairly certain he will easily outscore him. It wasn't a masterstroke. Circumstances happened to fall into place, fixtures drying up abroad, Kylmakorpi and Tai having the right averages and Tai letting it be known he was looking to keep race fit and available to sign. Personally, I am pleased we didn't do it. I wouldn't like to see any of the 7 riders who have given their all and got us to the top of the league replaced. I hope they go on and win the play offs and believe they can but if not, I shall have no regrets. They are Belle Vue 2016. Tai will add some spice to the play offs, hopefully increase the crowds and give opposing riders an opportunity to try to raise their game and beat him.

frigbo
Can't see why people have an issue with this - it's a no brainer. Yes, Woffinden is using British speedway as he chooses, but so do virtually all international standard riders - and some that aren't!! I've little or no interest in watching speedway these days but this can only help boost interest and attendances for the latter part of the season. Lord Skid
New rules being drafted as we speak, for the play offs, a Teams reserves have to be brothers, Poole to announce either the Kurtz or Holder brothers next week, Belle Vue to announce the Collins brothers. Sir Jasper
If it wss a straight league then i understand maybe but strengthening just for the finish makes a mockery of it. Why not let all the teams reset, contracts end and all those in the playoffs have new sides? Riders dropped would at least know it's on the cards, i don't like the chopping and changing, no matter what team or who the riders are. Its that sort of opinion which holds British Speedway back, far too many people in and around the sport who are happy to settle for the status quo...
