Ghostwalker
It was in reference to the 'Royal Crown of Sweden' and made a change from the usual national flag. Yep, see this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Crowns
steve roberts
Begs the question the best ever race jacket? Personally I always preferred the simpler designs (certainly prior to sponsorship logos) and I guess that the Ace of Belle Vue would take some beating? Liked the old Wembley Lion and, I know the passion that the symbol raises (been discussed extensively elsewhere on the forum), the Rebels jacket as worn by Oxford (1972 & 73 version) Edited August 11, 2016 by steve roberts

Also have to throw in late 60's, early 70's versions of Wimbledon, Poole, Coventry and particularly West Ham. Though obviously the CH in my avatar is the best ever.

However, on a similar topic, which rider has the best leathers is an interesting conversation also.. For me, Sam Ermolenko circa 1990-1993 with his blue/orange leathers were the best.. not that I'm in anyway biased I have always admitted, I do miss riders individual leathers since the advent of 'teamsuits', although can see the benefit of them. TheReturn
Off topic, but I miss the old race jackets, I think they look far better than the modern day race suits which don't allow for any rider individuality and identifiable at distance in terms of their Kevlar's.

Gresham
Just to confirm the idiots we really do have trolling this forum...the fact I actually mention 'Sweden?' in my OP apparently means 'clarified by the OP not having a clue who the team even is upon seeing the jacket'...you can't make it up how stupid some people are. Then it goes into a rant about how I find it easier to distinguish riders in traditional simple designed race jackets over race suits and how that is an 'utterly a stupid idea'. An idea that has existed pretty much since the advent of Speedway. Rolls eyes at the idiot behind the keyboard. As for my list showing who I have blocked...it's there so that you know I don't want to get into conversation with you...is it that hard to understand? I don't want to talk to you...I don't respect you or your opinions, as you probably don't mine...so what's the point. Seems some people just like to troll and keep it going and bringing up old conversations. Any time you are down in Somerset for a meeting, pm me...would love to meet you all ;-)
moxey63
Speedway fans, me included, do seem to take pride in knowing everything about the sport and deflect anybody else's views. By the way, who won the race jacket... my bid of £130 was beaten. In a way I'm glad I didn't win, as no-one can verify it.

Was it being sold elsewhere? When you say no one can verify it...do you mean just a few people on here, or in general? I'm sure it could be verified if you approached the right people. Hi Gresham, I am not saying it's a nide one, but I like to know the meeting and the rider. The only thing that you could readily say about this jacket is the two number fives on the back. As you never see the back of race jackets usually it's a chance in a lifetime of knowing whose this was. I may be wrong.. I, as a speedway fan, am sometimes!
