LisaColette
Gavan, if Ellis rode for Coventry and Garrity for Poole (heaven forbid!) then you would say Ellis is better. Your hatred for Poole stops people taking you seriously. What you should say is, Garrity is better cos he doesn't ride for Poole. That's the real reason isn't it?!

SteveLyric2
Garrity scores points because other riders are to $#!t scared to get too close to him - whether infront, behind or particularly alongside!!
scottyfan
Could be Lakeside but doubt he will go back there. Matt needs to cough up the dosh if this is the case. You are correct, Ellis is a Lakeside asset. Be good if Matt Ford was to buy him from Lakeside. Garrity scores points because other riders are to $#!t scared to get too close to him - whether infront, behind or particularly alongside!! What was wrong with Garrity the other night when he was having a go at KK during and after the race, accusing him of trying to fence him?? when in actual fact he was just riding him round on his inside........very strange....!! I don't like him myself but there's nothing wrong with a rider having a bit of a 'Fear Factor' around him. Pedersen and Kildermand have done quite well from it. g13webb
I like and rate Ellis bigtime Iisa i am sure Gavan does to leave it to him he will explain. For me personally not a fan of Garrity but he really puts everrything in to things really talented Bates,Ellis, i like alot also everyone to there own i suppose. Lambert, Garrity, Bates and Ellis are all British riders who have a big future in our sport, all young but very different. Each has something to offer. Who is best is down to personal opinions. Am very impressed with the improvement of Ellis this year. Saying that though, it must be easier and more rewarding riding with top men in a good team. Lambert to me is Amazing, Frustrating, Exciting, Unbelievable and bloody annoying. I often wonder why his gating is so suspect when we all know how important it is. So often when the chips are down, he'll miss the start, ride his heart out, but still lose. Time and again he with Niels have pulled off amazing feats to rescue the team from a dire situation. But the nearer he get to the top the rides become harder. If he can't get his gating sorted, he'll never reached them heights his ability deserves. Bates struggles to deceive. At times he's brilliant, and at others disappointing. His gating is the same, when on the case he can be brilliant. I feel he's a year behind the other riders mentioned. Garrity, to me, stands out for all the wrong reasons. His style is so flamboyant , reckless to a point, that you question his control of the bike. Sometimes he come across as dirty and deliberate. Sometimes I get the impression his own team mates give him a wide berth, such is their feelings. I'm in no doubt he has the ability to become a very good rider, but he needs to calm down and have more control of the bike and less accidents. To me he wants to get himself a new role model, one that will to show him the way. Moving to Lakeside under Tatum guidance, he would reap the rewards, 10 fold... For me, I would put them in order of Lambert; Ellis, Bates, then Garrity, but the gaps are small and they are all capable of winning races......

Gavan
Lambert first then Garrity. Not much between Ellis and Bates just that in the big meetings Bates has stepped up. It's not a Poole thing but Garrity has achieved more than Ellis and internationally so has Bates Edited August 12, 2016 by Gavan
Countershaftcounter
This weeks speedway star EL averages , Ellis 7.34, Bates 4,84. Ellis has spent more time in the main body than reserve this year. His improvement has been amazing. Just imagine what he could do with some PJR engines under him !!!! Just imagine what he could do with some PJR engines under him !!!!perhaps you could enlighten me further as I can't be bothered to check the away matches but at home in the elite league Ellis has rode in the main body 2 times and reserve 7 times. In the main body against Kings Lynn and Coventry. So unless it's drastically different in the away matches then I have no idea where your info comes from! Bates at home has had 4 at second string and 6 at reserve. There is nothing between the 2 riders but would be interested to know their away matches and the position they rode at
Jonny the spud
Not sure what Gavan said as i have him on ignore but can't we just enjoy the fact that we now have several brilliant young riders coming through the ranks? If the BSPA get their act into gear and maybe the British companies that supported the Aussies and others could get some funding behind them, we could be challenging for world titles in years to come.

Must make you feel proud though that ya boy is getting talked about, shows he's doing something right even if some are being negative. You're right though, just why do foreign riders pick up the bigger sponsorship packages in British Speedway?
Jonny the spud
Of course i'm proud of Adam, (as I am all my kids) but talk is cheap. I wouldn't like to think of the money i've spent over the years on speedway / grasstrack but at the end of the day it's Adams talent that has got him (and the other young riders) where they are today. There's quite a bit of money around the sport and I think (hope) that if the powers that be gave it a bit more thought and organisation it could be channeled into shaping team GB for the future.
Steve Shovlar
Not sure what Gavan said as i have him on ignore but can't we just enjoy the fact that we now have several brilliant young riders coming through the ranks? If the BSPA get their act into gear and maybe the British companies that supported the Aussies and others could get some funding behind them, we could be challenging for world titles in years to come. At last we are seeing things happening after years of very little. There have been some major flaws with the edr system this year in particular, but it has now proved to have worked with British riders benefitting from the experience. Of course this year there has been flaws but the riders have had the opportunity to race against more experienced riders and some have really blossomed, none more so than Adam. He is beating top riders on a regular basis, not just fluke one offs. Andreas on his home track, Harris on Wednesday, King, and young starlet Lambert on his own patch in a great race on Thursday. This has been a fantastic break through year and I feel sure he will go on to represent his country in the swc next season. Neil Vatcher has worked tirelessly behind the scenes with virtually no money to nurture other youngsters and this is the first time in years where we can say things are starting to happen. Always hard for the youngsters to get sponsorship and for some unfathomable reason a lot goes to the foriegn lads. Perhaps sponsors find it more "cool". Perhaps now is the time for Adam to tout himself around the Polish second league to see if he can land himself some practice sessions and potential team berth for 2017. Being proactive rather than waiting in the hope of a phone call from a prospective promoter can't be wrong.
Jonny the spud
I can't understand the amount of grief Neil Vatcher gets from some quarters. He and his wife put in an incredible amount of work in the UK and all over Europe to help young British riders. I've seen him dead on his feet at 1am in the pits, collecting all the race bibs off the boys before a long drive home to wash them before he leaves for his work the following morning. The guy deserves a medal.

The guy deserves a medal. All the work Vatcher does most of us fans are completely oblivious to. That could only be the fault of the BSPA. Most of us believe GB doesn't have much of a future as everything seems to be a secret behind the scenes. That's no good thing as that also means potential fans and sponsors are unaware and then hinders progress. The only junior I'm currently aware of is Kyle Bickley, pretty sure he's not racing on his own though. The junior scene needs backing by more than one man & his wife.
